Betty Ann Richli is a former associate justice on the Fourth District, Division Two of the California Courts of Appeal. Richli retired from the California Fourth District Court of Appeal on March 31, 2015.[1]
Richli was appointed to the court by Governor Pete Wilson and, after her confirmation, took the oath of office on September 9, 1994. She was retained by voters on November 7, 2006 to a term ending on January 7, 2019.[2][3]
Education
Richli graduated from Columbia Union College with degrees in English and history in 1967. She taught senior high school students for six years before going to law school in 1974. She received a law (J.D.) degree from Pepperdine Law School in 1977.[4][5]
Career
Richli began her legal career in 1978 working in the City Attorney's Office in Redlands, California. That same year, she became a Deputy District Attorney in San Bernardino County. She held this position until 1985, when she was appointed to the San Bernardino Municipal Court. In 1990, she was elevated to the Superior Court, where she worked until her appointment to the Court of Appeal in 1994.[4][5]
