A Bay County Senior Citizens Levy Increase proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Bay and Midland Counties, which are in Michigan, where it was approved.
This proposal authorized the Bay County to increase the property taxes of the County by up to .3 mill ($0.30 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for five years in order to fund the senior citizens' programs. The estimated first year revenue from this tax is $870,590.37.[1]

Language on the ballot:
| “ | Shall the limitation on the amount of property taxes which may be levied each year against all taxable real and personal property in the County of Bay be increased by not more than .3 of a mill (30cents per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of 5 years, 2012-2016 inclusive, for senior citizens' programs and related facilities? This new millage will raise estimated revenues of $870,590.37 in the first year of the levy.
