Basheer Jones was a member of the Cleveland City Council in Ohio, representing Ward 7. He assumed office on January 1, 2018. He left office on January 3, 2022.
Jones ran for election for Mayor of Cleveland in Ohio. He lost in the primary on September 14, 2021.
Biography
Jones was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to Cleveland, Ohio, as a child.[1] Jones received a bachelor's degree in African-American studies from Morehouse College in 2006 and a master's degree in theology from Bayan Islamic Graduate School. Following graduation, he organized support in Cleveland for Barack Obama (D) during the 2008 presidential campaign. He hosted a talk radio show on WERE AM until 2010 and later created the Be the Change Leadership Series hosting character development workshops in school systems across Ohio.[1][2]

Basheer Jones defeated incumbent TJ Dow in the general election for Ward 7 of the Cleveland City Council.[4]
