Additional themes

Coghill's campaign website included the following themes:

MAIN STREETS
Our main streets are the cornerstone of our neighborhoods. By working side by side with our delegation at the federal, state and county levels, I will ensure that our business districts receive the financial support they need. Together, we can build on the growth across the district to provide for the upkeep of our main streets while attracting new, sustainable businesses to the community.

OPIOIDS
We all know someone who has been impacted by opioid abuse and heroin addiction. As your councilman, I will be a resource for those seeking help. Working hand in hand with public safety, human services, and addiction programs, we can connect residents to resources. And while supporting the rehabilitation process, we must also be aware of locating half way houses and other facilities in the heart of our neighborhoods that could impact economic development and investment in those communities.

PUBLIC SAFETY
As the brother of a police officer, I’ve seen first hand the dedication that our men and women in blue show while serving the public. As a community advocate, I also understand neighborhood leaders’ desire to see positive relationships with fire, police and EMS, and quick response to public safety issues in our communities. As your councilman, I will be an advocate for District 4 with the city administration and the public safety community to continue to ensure our neighborhoods stay safe.

PUBLIC WORKS
Too often, we take our public infrastructure for granted until it begins to fail us. Like my slogan says, we need to get “back to basics.” You have my commitment that I will work on your behalf to ensure that the maintenance and upkeep of our streets, parks and facilities is priority. And when there are concerns with paving, potholes or plowing, they will be addressed quickly and correctly.

SCHOOLS
As a proud graduate of Beechwood Elementary and John A. Brashear High School, I value the work done in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Through my existing relationships with our school board, teachers and administrators, I will work to ensure our students have the resources they need to be successful. I will also continue to support the expansion of career and technology education programs, and the inclusion of diversity initiatives that benefit students and improve their education.[6][4]
