Amy Handlin (Republican Party) was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, representing District 13. She assumed office in 2006. She left office on January 14, 2020.
Handlin (Republican Party) ran for election to the New Jersey General Assembly to represent District 13. She did not appear on the ballot for the Republican primary on June 8, 2021.
Biography
Handlin earned her B.A. in history from Harvard University in 1977, her M.B.A. in business administration from Columbia University in 1979, and her Ph.D. in marketing from New York University in 1991. Her professional experience includes working as an associate professor of marketing at Monmouth University.[1] Prior to her election to the Assembly, Handlin served on the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders from 1990 to 2005, as deputy Mayor of Middletown from 1989 to 1990, and on the Middletown Township Committee from 1987 to 1990.[1]

General election
Elections for the New Jersey General Assembly took place in 2017. All 80 seats were up for election. State assembly members are elected to two-year terms. The general election took place on November 7, 2017. A primary election took place on June 6, 2017. The filing deadline for the primary election was April 3, 2017.[2] Legislative districts in the New Jersey General Assembly are multi-member districts, with two representatives in each district. In Democratic and Republican primary elections, the top two candidates move forward to the general election, and the top two candidates in the general election are declared the winners.[3] Incumbent Amy Handlin (R) and Serena DiMaso (R) defeated Tom Giaimo (D), Mariel Didato (D), and Eveline H. Brownstein (Libertarian) in the New Jersey General Assembly District 13 general election.[4][5]

2015
Elections for the New Jersey General Assembly took place in 2015. A primary election was held on June 2, 2015. The general election took place on November 3, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 30, 2015.[9] Since the general assembly uses multi-member districts, the top two candidates from each party in the primaries advanced to the general election. Jeanne Cullinane and Thomas Herman were bracketed together and were unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Amy Handlin and incumbent Declan O'Scanlon, Jr. were bracketed together and were unopposed in the Republican primary. Handlin and O'Scanlon defeated Cullinane, Herman and Joshua Leinsdorf (Jobs, Sidewalks, Transit) in the general election.[10][11][12][13][14]
2013
Handlin won re-election in the 2013 election for New Jersey General Assembly District 13. Handlin was bracketed with Declan O'Scanlon, Jr.. She defeated Edna Walsh and Stephen Boracchia in the June 4 Republican primary. She and incumbent Declan O'Scanlon, Jr. (R) defeated Allison Friedman (D), Matthew Morehead (D), and Karen Anne Zaletel (G) in the general election, which took place on November 5, 2013.[15][16][17][18]
2011
Handlin won re-election in 2011. Handlin and Declan O'Scanlon, Jr. ran unopposed in the June 7 Republican primary. They then defeated Kevin Lavan (D), Patrick Short (D), William Lawton (Const.), and Frank Cottone (Const.) in the November 8 general election.[19]
2009
Handlin won re-election to the New Jersey General Assembly in 2009. Handlin received 39,863 votes (33%), defeating challengers Bob Brown (D), James Grenafege (D), and Sean Dunne (Fight Corruption) in the November 3, 2009, general election.[20] She was bracketed with Samuel Thompson (R).[21]
