Kraemer provided the following additional comments with his survey response:

The other big issue is transparency and honesty[5]

—Adam Kraemer (2017)[6]

Additional themes

Kraemer's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Essex County is a wonderful place. However, Essex County is one of the most highly taxed jurisdictions, in the state of New Jersey and the United States of America. For well over a decade, all the elected officials in Essex county (All nine Freeholders, the Clerk, the Sheriff, the Register of Mortgages and Deeds, the Surrogate, the County Executive) have been and are Regular Organization Progressive Democrats. Also, the elected official in general, have limited experience in the private sector.
  • I want to bring a different perspective, running on the Republican line as a fiscal conservative. While the Board of Chosen Freeholders is diverse by race, gender, religion, and ethnicity: with nine Progressive Regular Organization Democrats, it is not diverse of ideas. The public debate has been limited and most ordinances and resolutions, pass with unanimous votes.
  • Furthermore Essex County needs to be more transparent. The lack of transparency results in numerous one bid or no bid contracts. The lack of transparency means the approximately 780,000 citizen of the county, for the most part, do not accurately understand what the county government does, nor how it spends the taxpayers money. By operating in an honest and transparent way and being beholden to no special interest groups, other than the taxpayers, and voters of the fourth district of Essex County, I hope to earn your vote, and work hard as a Freeholder to try to make Essex County, a some what more affordable and better place to live and work.[5]
