GWS Reserves

In 2011 the GWS Giants seniors were founder members of the NEAFL. The following year saw the Giants admitted to the AFL with their reserves side, known at the time as UWS Giants, replacing their senior side in the NEAFL. In 2016 the reserve side was renamed Western Sydney University Giants and they ultimately became the first ever Giants team to win a premiership. In that year's grand final, opposed by cross-town rivals Sydney reserves, they scored a battling 4 point triumph, 11.16 (82) to 11.12 (78). Somewhat surprisingly, the 2017 season could not have afforded more of a contrast as the Giants tumbled to the wooden spoon after winning just 2 out of 18 matches for the year, In 2018 there was some improvement as the Giants clambered up to seventh place on the ten team premiership ladder.
