Who was that gorilla I saw you with?
Monogram Pictures' phony jungle, a guy in a gorilla suit and Mantan Moreland. What more could you want? A lot more Mantan Moreland, that's what. He's the only reason to download this movie….well, maybe that's a little harsh. Let's say he's almost the only reason. Just standing there Moreland makes me smile, and once he opens his mouth I'm helpless. A silly plot has Arline Judge, John "Dusty" King and Mantan trudging through a sound-stage jungle pursued by Nazi agents (MEANINGLESS SPOILER WARNING), that is until Mantan meets a lodge brother from Harlem and saves the day. It's nothing more than pure, low-budget, B movie hokum. Okay, so I'm really stretching to give this little "African" romp four stars. I don't care. CAST NOTE: Technically this movie's star is Arline Judge, a dancer turned actor who kicked around Hollywood until 1964. Pleasant enough, she starred in B-features, had supporting roles in a few A-features and finished her career as a character actor in television productions.

Moreland saves this one
Mantan Moreland is in good form, and is the only reason to watch this unimaginative, tritely written, light comedy/adventure movie. I didn't care for Arline Judge. John King was out-acted by props on the set, as usual.
I downloaded the DivX file. The video is OK, though there's a purple cast to the first 3 minutes of so. I'm learning that a lot of old movies were poorly transferred to VHS/DVD. Frames of this one have been cropped on the bottom and right sides. It's really a shame. The audio is OK.
