to the other receptionist who had been there for almost a year, like, gee, i can't believe we make 450. and she said, wait, i'm only making 425. so she went to the boss and then the boss ended up paying her 450. so it was kind of it was an unintended, you know, salary transparency conversation. i think she was mad that the new girl was making 450. so yeah, i learned you learn so much in those first jobs, right. and i think it's good. >> it's good information to share. it is. >> it is. all right. let's focus on what is happening here when it comes to the real estate market. we always say we're not looking to buy or sell, but still we house hunt, right? home sales rebounded here in the bay last month after seeing mortgage rates drop to their lowest level in two years, according to the california association of realtors. sales in october were up 20% compared to a month before, up 16% from last year. analysts say lower rates are motivating more buyers to come back to the market. data from freddie mac show the average rate for the 30 year fixed mortgage fell, hitting just over 6% at the end of september. now to new video that i can barely watch. a woman who had a close encounter with an unexpected visitor in her garage. take a

look at the security camera footage from outside the home of rachel jelly in australia. oh my gosh, i ran for the hills. so we see the moment and i'm sure we'll be back to share it again. jelly opened her garage door and was greeted by a massive carpet python. that thing is huge. it's terrible. apparently it's not the first time she's run into the snake. she's. she's a braver and better woman than i am. she spotted the python on her property several times over the years. he says she has no plans to remove it and is taking more of a live and let live approach. >> oh, she is lovely and not not me. >> that is a big boy. i'd be like, i would call whatever professional. yes, like, can you please remove it? sure. >> only treated humanely and let it live somewhere else. >> not my garage. >> yes. oh, god. that's terrifying. all right, let's talk about some snow. mammoth mountain in the sierra has officially logged its snowiest november in 14 years. the resort reports 62in of snowfall this month alone. over the past three days, the resort received 30in. in the last 24 hours, and an
8:19 am
additional 6 to 10in depending on the elevation there. the trails are now blanketed with fresh powder, perfect for skiers and boarders to carve. a lot of people love to spend their thanksgiving doing some visiting, some snow. you know, snow making snowmen, making skiing, boarding, whatever, enjoying the snow. >> and, you know, 4 or 5 days ago, travel up the mountains was treacherous, right? chains and closures. steve paulson for those people who are taking, you know, kind of the back half of thanksgiving week, off to go ski. timing is good. >> good cold. also, they needed some cold to get this to set. and there's no new snow. but temperatures will be in the single digits and the teens for today, so that helps. we had a lot of low 30s here this morning. i believe she's in pinole. it's nice to wake up to and walk on frosty grass this morning. but the dog and i are now back inside. i can't say i blame you. and also our good friend phillip price up in napa. happy thanksgiving! this morning we had paws in the park on the frosty napa grass. i did see 28 in pope valley, napa. i saw 33.

doesn't mean it wasn't colder. petaluma airport also dropped to 28. sonoma state university, pleasanton. saratoga, mill valley, danville and menlo park, all between 30 and 32. at one time this morning. nationally. look at the plunge of cold air. this will be the key going forward here as high pressure builds in for us. this cold air right there is going to do this and do this. and that's going to give the lake effect snow as it comes in on the great lakes and also into buffalo for this weekend. so that will be the big story. as high pressure builds into the west. we have a little offshore breeze i'll say up to 34 miles an hour right above the caldecott tunnel. so in the oakland berkeley hills, you can get some pretty good gusts that will make for warm temperatures on the coast and absolutely obliterate any high clouds that decide they might want to try and come in. fog is not really an issue here. you can see the footprint of it though. out in the valley. i think going forward here, especially the weekend, we could start to see some petaluma and there might be a little pocket of it. but for most of our concerns that's not
8:21 am
an issue. but it is in other areas and it will be as we head towards the weekend and early next week. we are in a holding pattern. high pressure is built in mount veeder 41. there's the oakland hills there at around 1200 feet or so northeast of 34, even boulder creek, santa cruz mountains has an offshore breeze, lots of 30s. although half moon bay 54. with that offshore wind, this may be that time of year when the coast, san mateo coast and down to santa cruz will be warmer than anybody else. and even the city in oakland will be on the mild side. lots of 30s though. take your pick. even foster city at 37 on the peninsula there and 14 in truckee. same for minden, same for south lake tahoe. reno 16. some fog on 395 had reports of that as well. except for us. we're looking good. the pattern has ended as far as rain goes. we have to wait now and see when the next one would be, and it probably won't be for ten days or so. so cold. lows sunny and mild with a little easterly breeze. so thankful. thursday here. clear skies, sunny and nice. that offshore breeze though will equal a lot of 60s, especially on the coast. i think pacifica looks warmer than most
8:22 am
today and that pattern trend will continue. fog will be an issue, but only in the valley and otherwise temps will be warming up gradually each day. >> thank you steve. it's 821 here. there a popular tool for little ones learning to move. but those baby walkers may be more dangerous than thought. e risks experts s drop everything and get some magic of your own during the xfinity black friday sale. xfinity internet customers, our best deals of the year are back! switch to xfinity mobile and get your choice of a free 5g phone, plus your next unlimited line free for a year. get amazing savings and connect to wifi speeds up to a gig on the go with xfinity mobile. fly don't walk to get our best deals of the year.

underway for months to help make union square safer, including stationing more officers in the area. chief scott said that has already proven successful, with officers interrupting overnight burglary attempts and arresting suspects on scene. the chief says even though the number of car break ins has dropped by thousands from this time last year, shoppers still need to be mindful about their own security to the public. >> just be aware of what's going on around you. make sure that you're watching out for each other and your neighbors. don't leave visible things in your car because that's a target for theft and car break ins as well. special meal. would you go for it or do you go without? >> i would love them to send it to us and i would certainly be happy to try it. but no, i'm not spending that on. >> that's a lot of money for like a tablespoon. i mean, we should ask our fine diner in the group, steve paulson. i know you like the finer things in life. >> i would not do that. but as pamela will tell you, i'm the king of dad jokes, so. >> okay, let's hear it. >> why are cranberries wet? oh, because they're ocean sprayed. there you go. >> nice try. the veal. >> didn't you have a turkey? one, too, for us? >> i already told you that one. okay, okay. >> well, can i just ask you both? do you even like cranberry sauce? i do, i do, i do, and i make it myself like you. so like the whole the whole. not the gel of the in the can with the ridges. right, steve. no. >> yes. i would rather have. >> what? the real deal. good. we're all on the same page. >> all right, we're ready here. we'll head out to moraga. i spent a little time there, you know, back in the day when there was about 50 people there in town. but happy thanksgiving. that's from our good friend

sabrina there. great weather and she is a loyal watcher of lyon. yes, she is a loyal watcher. all right. petaluma and pope valley both dropped to 28 this morning. sonoma state 30, pleasanton 30. saratoga. mill valley, danville, menlo park, all between 31 and 32. the big news will be that plunge of cold air coming out of canada. as we head into not only later today, but all the way into the weekend. it's going to do this and go down like this and do this, and the key will be there was so warm here for most, most of november that the great lakes are warm anywhere from about 4 to 8 degrees above average. you plunge this cold air over that and there will be lake effect snow aplenty, including in buffalo this weekend, where the 49ers are going to be. we have an east northeast breeze and it's pretty good there above the claremont caldecott, northeast of 34. so this will make for sunny and warm weather over by the coast. these high clouds have no chance. that low is stuck. it has no place to go. fog. not an issue for us yet now it is. you
8:39 am
can see it out to the valley. at one time stockton was down to about a half mile. there are some pockets of it. i think going forward though, that will be the story as we head towards the weekend and early next week as high pressure locks in here for probably ten days is the way it looks, everything will be in. you have to budge all that cold air in the eastern part of the country and the great lakes. that's going to take a while. so we had our rain. now we get a break. boulder creek 31, felton 31 degrees. lots of 30s here. santa clara 33. i mean 37. aptos. that's an offshore breeze at that one observation in santa cruz, which is why they're 49. so the santa cruz capitola over, i think, to half moon bay pacifica look to be really nice this time of year. mid 60s possible 14 truckee, 14. south lake tahoe, 19 carson city and minden and reno says hey, so are we high pressure large and in charge here. no more rain for us for a while here. maybe you have to go out to mid december unless something dramatically changes. cold lows sunny and mild. keep an eye though on the fog. thankful. thursday. cold morning, breezy in the hills but

welcome back to mornings on two. it is a difficult morning in the small east bay city of piedmont. the community coming together to grieve. three young recent high school graduates who were all
8:44 am
killed in a car crash, of course. >> their deaths came yesterday morning, just before the thanksgiving holiday. a beloved tradition in piedmont is continuing today, with some changes to honor the victims. we'll turn again to our allie rasmus live in piedmont with what's happening there. this morning. allie. >> good morning, gasia and pam. you know, there was some discussion in the community about whether or not this 23 year long tradition, the turkey trot should go on as planned, given the tragedy that happened less than 36 hours ago with the three recent piedmont high school grads who were killed and a fourth one in the hospital seriously injured. but race organizers said that the event should go on as planned. and before things got started, we did hear the mayor of piedmont, jen cavanaugh, address the crowd. she acknowledged the grief that she and others are experiencing in light of the loss of these- [music] young lives. here's what she had to say to encourage folks who are about to start the run. i do know that we're going to get through this together in community, and i know that when we're feeling helpless, the one
8:45 am
thing we can do is reach out to help others when we're feeling sad. >> the one thing we can do is reach out to connect to a frien, because chances are they're feeling the same way you are. [music] >> and that's exactly what people in the crowd did. there were a lot of hugs, a lot of consolation. people holding each other close. this is a small community of about fewer than 10,000 people. really. and so there's really just two degrees of separation when it comes to folks knowing the families involved. and the victims. and so people did start the turkey trot as scheduled. and so we saw those runners leaving from that starting point here in central piedmont. now, race organizers did make some modifications to the race course. it was part of. it was slightly rerouted so that none of the runners will be going by any of the victims homes. again, this is a small community geographically, so they had to alter the course so that no one is passing by those houses in this time of grief and
8:46 am
mourning, some of the runners will also be able to pick up flowers that were donated by a couple of community members. the owner of the oakland flower mart donated 1500 flowers, so that race runners could pick up one of those flowers on their route and then set it aside at a designated memorial site near the crash site. so that's going to be happening here this morning as well. and behind us this is a5k run. it started just about 15 minutes ago. so now the first person is running and just crossed the finish line. so there's some avid runners here some experienced runners. and but then there's also just a lot of folks and kids really of all ages who joined their families in the morning of thanksgiving for this tradition to just come. and a lot of people just walk this five k run as well. so piedmont turkey trot tradition continues this morning with even though it is a morning of sadness and grief for a lot of folks in this community because of that terrible crash that claimed the lives of three recent piedmont high school graduates, and the mayor did mention that the fourth person
8:47 am
who was in that vehicle that crashed, also a piedmont high graduate, is in the hospital right now about to undergo surgery. so it's a morning of mixed emotions here in piedmont for this turkey trot event. live in piedmont. allie rasmus ktvu, fox two news a very strong community. >> ali, thank you so much. you've done such a good job of really taking us there this morning. 846 here, turkey trots are happening all across the bay. there's one in petaluma, another in benicia, some in marin county. the biggest, though in the country is in san jose. today marks the 20th year that san jose has held a thanksgiving day race. it's raised $12 million in donations for local charities since it began. more than 20,000 people will participate in person or virtually this year. people can choose to run, walk or jog. participants have the option of running it virtually as well anytime from today through december 4th. it also features a costume contest race kicked off just a bit ago here at 830. this morning in downtown san jose, west santa clara street and first street filled with runner. >> today, another thanksgiving race will take place in the east
8:48 am
bay. the nitro turkey day run will take place at the point pinole regional shoreline park in san pablo. that event features five k and ten k races, as well as the little turkeys race, where kids run about 100 yards against the intro turkey there. the nitro turkey that is thanksgiving themed costumes are welcome, and expected funds raised will support local food banks. attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable items to donate to the food banks. the little turkeys run starts at 845, so they might be underway, and the nitro run kicks off very shortly at 9:00, so it's nice everybody gets out and about. nice to see that community. >> yeah. meanwhile, the you know, back to piedmont. i kind of did the quick math. steve paulson, that man who crossed the finish line during ali's live report, if he's doing a5k in 15 minutes, that's like, what, a 5 or 6 minute mile? yeah, yeah. >> flying. wow. no doubt. i remember those days. >> i never had those days. >> but i lived back in pacific grove. oh my gosh. all right. petaluma, this morning. what

about it? drop to 28 pope valle, also at 28 sonoma state. pleasanton, saratoga, mill valley, danville, menlo park, all at one time between 30 and 32. and it might even be just a smidge colder tomorrow morning. we do have an offshore breeze. oakland berkeley hills. they're 22 to 34 in the city. it's due east at 14. mount tamalpais northeast. now it's not roaring, but that's going to make for some warm temps for this time of year. over on the coast. they'll be the beneficiary of that offshore breeze. and mid 60s would not surprise me. that system out there that low is has no place to go. 42 to 49 on the temps in the city. officially they dropped to 44.7, which is impressive because normal is 49. the record for san francisco was 40 in 1906, so four degrees off a record low officially in the city this morning. still, i mean, we've we've already hit the lows, but still a lot of 30s showing up, especially north. i mean, fairfax, novato, sonoma,
