after a car hit them. now all lanes are blocked in that direction as they look to clear that scene. kind of clean up what's been left behind there? we also know of a fatal crash over at piedmont that we're just now starting to get some details on. we'll bring you that piece, those pieces of information, in just a little bit. but now we know just that area near san ramon, southbound on 680, is going to have just a tiny bit of a backup this morning. we're hoping crews can get that cleared before the peak of the morning commute. for the most part, if you're heading in from the east bay into san francisco, your commute should be smooth. 501 let's go back to the desk with pam. >> thank you. james. after more than a year of fighting, a cease fire between israel and hezbollah, the lebanese militant group takes effect today. the deal was brokered by the u.s. and france. it calls for two months of no fighting and for hezbollah troops to abandon armed areas along southern lebanon. the deal also mandates israel. israeli fighters exit lebanon and leave the transition up to the united nations peacekeepers. many in the region worry how long the agreement will last. >> it's not a peace agreement.

it's a cease fire for the time being. >> it is not something that i personally feel secure about, and i am also not ready for my family to return. >> many displaced people in both northern israel and southern lebanon have started to return to their homes. president biden says the u.s. is now focused on securing a ceasefire deal between israel and hamas. >> and pam, the families of israeli hostages still being held in gaza, gathered in tel aviv, demanding more than just the cease fire announcement. >> instead of involving the cease fire in the north, and to have also a ceasefire in gaza. because i insist that we need a cease fire, we need to stop the war in gaza, and we've got to have a hostage deal now because they're not going to survive. >> dozens of people protested and demanding the return of the people who've been held captive since the hamas attack. one year

5:05 am
were four people in the car. we know that three of them have died. the chief says that somebody that was following behind, it's unclear if this person knew the group or just happened to come upon this scen. but a young man, we've seen him maybe in his early 20s. he was following behind. he got out of his car to then go up to the car. once it had crashed and pull someone out, so he was able to pull out one person, and that's the person that has been sent to the hospital. but the other three are tragically dead. so when police got here, it was fully engulfed in flames. firefighters are here, chp is here. piedmont police is here. and we have a very mangled cybertruck here. it they don't know exactly what caused the car to go off the road. it looks like kind of from our vantage point that it hit a tree
5:06 am
possibly. and then maybe, you know, careened into a wall there on the side. but we don't know what caused this. when we got here, we saw the man who was following them we now know was following them. maybe in his early 20s. he was sitting in the back of the ambulance here, but completely fine. not injured. we had two people who seemed to be somebody's parents come up hugging him, crying. it's clearly a very emotional scene here. but you know, we're we're working to learn more. it's very much the beginning stages of this investigation for chp and police to try to figure out what happened, what caused this car to go off the road. but the chief did mention, you know, because it is a cybertruck, that it was just too hot and it burned quickly. so that's something that he noted. but again, three people we know are dead. one sent to the hospital
5:07 am
that was pulled out by a young man. we don't know the relationship yet between that man and this group. if he knew them. but based on, you know, kind of the emotion of this scene and kind of the group that came up and they were hugging, it seems like they did know each other. so, you know, we're still trying to learn the relationship kind of what caused this all. but that's what we know so far right now. three dead. there were four in the car. one of those people went to the hospital, but still trying to learn more about their condition as well. so for now, i'll send it back to you in the studio, live in piedmont. amanda quintana, ktvu, fox two news amanda, certainly a tough story out there. >> thank you so much for getting that information. we'll check in with her in just a little bit. a man suspected of being involved in two bombings in the east bay more than 20 years ago is in custody. 46 year old daniel andreas san diego has been on the run since 2003. authorities
