tahoe, north star and heavenly. let's check in now with our chief meteorologist, bill martin and bill, a good start to the sierra ski season. yeah, and more to come. >> i actually talked to a young man that was up at mammoth yesterday and said it was packed because they only had like one run open, but you get the idea. everybody wants to get the snow coming and it is going to come this week is going to be sort of an internet week for weather and what i mean by that is you're going to hear a lot of stuff you're already hearing atmospheric river, you're hearing bomb, cyclone, all that hype stuff. there's a lot of potential for rainfall. there really is. and a bomb cyclone. that's something that drops 24 millibars in 24 hours, which indicates strong winds, strong low pressure. that's possible to further north. and then the atmospheric river will show it to you right here. there's a couple of them, or at least one shows up in a large piece. so here's tomorrow. there's tuesday. so long range model i should have said that. and then here's tuesday morning. right. a lot of clouds. and then tuesday night into wednesday morning. so it's rain. wednesday looks wet. thursday looks wet, especially
6:22 pm
in the north bay. and if you're noticing right, everything's happening in the north bay. there's your atmospheric river. see that tail of moisture streaming in? i mean, this is again. but look at the focus further north. so the key with atmospheric rivers, as you know, and don't buy any of it yet because by some of it it's going to be wet on wednesday into thursday. and we'll probably see be be wet again into saturday afternoon. but what i'm getting at lots can happen between now and then in these model runs, especially when you've got a jet stream configured like we do right now, so we'll keep an eye on it. these are some of the rainfall numbers that are being forecast. and again you're going to hear a lot. it's just that's because yeah it just gets headlines. people get fired up when they see you know atmospheric river or bomb cyclone all. none of it's crazy out of the ordinary. but what is interesting is it's a wet pattern that is going to bring us significant rain in northern california. pacific northwest, portland. those areas get hit pretty hard as well. so it's going to be an active week, is what i'm saying. and the models are going to change right. they
6:23 pm
update all the time. and so this is going to move around a bunch. but the basic idea is looks like you're going to get some wet weather coming in here on tuesday night into wednesday. wednesday morning commute looks wet, especially in the north bay. and then again on thursday, break on friday and then some, maybe saturday afternoon. so what can you see? you can see some of that moisture plume there. and then coming close. there were scattered showers showing up further north earlier today. a few light sprinkles. that was in the forecast as well. here is the model for tomorrow morning. a few scattered showers tomorrow afternoon, then wednesday or tuesday morning. and then here comes tuesday night into wednesday morning. right. so that's sort of the that's the end in san jose. you're going whatever what's going on. right at 8 a.m. it's wet everywhere especially in the north bay. this has a lot of focus, as do many atmospheric rivers on the north bay or potential atmospheric rivers on the north bay. and so they'll get a lot of rain. marin county watershed, what have you. so most of it appears to be right now for us, day by day, week by week, storm
