The CBI does not post information concerning (1) sex offenders only convicted of misdemeanor sex offenses, or (2) juveniles adjudicated for sex crimes.
You may contact your local Police Department, County Sheriff's office, or the CBI for a COMPLETE list of registered sex offenders in your city, county or state. Some Police Departments and Sheriff's Offices maintain websites containing information about sex offenders in their jurisdiction, consistent with Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS) 16-22-112. SVP's are considered the highest risk sex offenders. Currently, most SVP's are in prison. They are posted on this site when they are living in the community (or have lived in the community), either under criminal justice supervision or having completed their sentence. SVP's are the only category of sex offenders subject to Community Notification.
These sex offenders have two or more adult felony convictions for unlawful sexual behavior and one or more adult felony crimes of violence.
A person who has been convicted of a felony sex offense as an adult which requires registration and is currently registered. The CBI does not post information concerning the following offenders: (1) Sex offenders only convicted of misdemeanor sex offenses, or (2) Juveniles adjudicated for sex crimes.
These sex offenders have failed to register or have a history of failing to register, as required, with their local law enforcement agency.
In 2005, with the passage of Colorado Revised Statue 16-22-110, the Colorado Sex Offender registry was revised. The general assembly recognized the need to balance the expectations of persons convicted of offenses involving unlawful sexual behavior and the public's need to adequately protect themselves and their children from these persons. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) maintains this site and evaluates the accuracy and integrity of all sexual offender registration records to determine if the data fulfills the minimum requirements for all Internet postings. These records are updated hourly and will be posted to the website as soon as they are available. If you believe any information found in these records is incorrect or if you have any questions, please contact CBI's Program Support Unit at (303) 239-4222. Please note some information related to sex offenders is not available on this website; for a more extensive list of information, contact CBI's Program Support Unit at the above phone number or e-mail. Also, if you are unable to acquire sex offender registry information from a local police department, you may contact the CBI for assistance.
The CBI also has a tip line for citizens to report the possible location of a sex offender who has failed to register. You may call the tip line at (303) 239-5732 or your local law enforcement agency to report this information. If an emergency exists, please dial 911.

The CBI website lists only those offenses or convictions that require a sex offender to register (per Colorado Revised Statute). Sex offenders who are listed as a "Multiple Offender" may have additional criminal history listed on the Sex Offender website; however, the website may not contain a full criminal history for every offender. If you suspect there are additional criminal history convictions not listed on the website, you may purchase a more complete criminal history at www.cbirecordscheck.com.
