Rural Development Minister Updates WB Delegation on His Priorities

The Rural Development Minister briefs newly appointed Country Manager of the World Bank (WB) for Cambodia Ms. Tania Meyer on his ministry's priorities with optimistic collaboration.
H.E. Chhay Rithisen received the WB Country Manager at his office on Dec. 11.
He highlighted his ministry's work in transforming the countryside in Cambodia by increasing household income and reducing the gap between rural and urban areas.
The work, he said, focused on prosperity, inclusion, innovation, digitalisation, and economic, social, and cultural resilience.
To achieve that, the strategic approaches used include the development of resilient physical infrastructure and rural transportation and the improvement of health and hygiene of rural communities.
Rural economic diversification and job innovation and institutional strengthening through digital, finance, and cooperation policy are also part of the approaches.
The minister thanked the WB for its support for the ongoing projects with the ministry as well as the project in the pipeline.
Ms. Tania Meyer expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Rural Development that has set out a clear strategy to further civilise Cambodia's rural areas.
On behalf of the bank, she reaffirmed its support and commitment to strengthen cooperation with the ministry.
