Email alerts
Oxford University Press (OUP) offers email alerts for Oxford Academic account holders, with a variety of options to tailor the alerts to better meet your needs.
- New issue alerts – Receive an email when a new issue of a particular journal publishes, listing all the articles in that issue.
- Advance article alert – Receive an email when articles publish online ahead of print (participating journals only).
- Saved search alerts - Receive an email when new content is published that matches search criteria (e.g. select a subject from the taxonomy to receive alerts whenever new relevant content publishes).
- Article activity alert – Receive an email showing comments added, citation count changes, corrections, and retractions.
How to sign up for alerts
No matter which alert you want, the first step is to sign in to your Oxford Academic account. If you don't have an account, it’s easy to create a new account.
New issue and advance alerts
Go to 'Email alerts’ via either:
- your account landing page – the dropdown from your account name (at the top right of the screen) has an ‘Email Alerts’ option
- any OUP journal homepage – the 'Alerts' link is located on the top horizontal navigation bar or in the 'About' dropdown
Click ‘Add alerts’ and specify the alert type(s) and journals you wish to receive. Save your selection(s) by clicking on ‘Add alerts.’ The alerts you sign up to are listed on the ‘Email alerts’ page.
You can also sign up for new issue and advance alerts, as well as article activity alerts, through the quick sign-up links found in boxes at the top of the right-hand columns on journal content pages. Click the relevant link and confirm your choice in the popup panel by clicking ‘Add alerts.’
Saved search alerts
When you search within a journal or across the platform and apply filtering options (in the left-hand column) to refine the results, you can save the adjusted criteria by clicking the ‘Save’ link at the top of the page just beneath your search term. A popup panel will appear to confirm and name the saved search; you can also opt to receive alerts when new content publishes matching the criteria. Click ‘Yes’ to receive alerts and ‘No’ if you simply want to preserve the criteria. By then clicking on ‘Save,’ you add it to the ‘Saved searches’ of your Oxford Academic account.
RSS feeds
We also deliver a variety of RSS feeds (Current issue, Advance article, Open Access, Editor’s choice, Podcast) to a variety of RSS feed readers. Check the table of contents to find out if that journal is participating and which feeds are available for that title.
Marketing emails
Through your Oxford Academic account you can also sign up to receive emails which include the latest information about new products, exclusive offers, competitions, and news. Go to Communication preferences and select your preferred subjects, so that we can send you the most relevant information.
