Winding Tree is an international distributed team (US, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Belgium, Poland, Argentina). We started in 2017, with the idea to create a marketplace that would connect suppliers and buyers, having travel as our niche. Since then we developed a few open source products:

  • ORGiD, blockchain-based decentralized identity for organizations (businesses, non-profits, etc.)
  • Winding Tree Marketplace, interface for ORGiD
  • Glider, the world's first open source travel agency
  • Rooms (in development phase), inventory management for hotels

We believe that many online activities that are curently monopolized by big market makers could be optimized by decentralized tech and open source. E.g. we think it is ridiculous that Booking.com (and its competitors) can charge up to 25% commission fee, taking money out of the local communities, and ultimately stifling innovation.

All the funds raised from the Sponsors program will go towards development and maintenance of existing and future projects. We'd love to work on more tools for hotels, BnBs, local tour operators, and we wish we had more resources for that.
