SourceForge Enterprise Edition Recognized as "Gold Standard" for Collaboration

FREMONT, Calif May 16, 2005 VA Software Corporation (NASDAQ: LNUX), a leading provider of software, information and community support for IT and development professionals, today announced that Software Development Times has selected SourceForge Enterprise Edition a winner in the "Collaboration & SCM" category of the SD Times 100. The list recognizes firms for their leadership and innovation in the software development industry in 2004.

SD Times said SourceForge Enterprise Edition remains the "gold standard for internal and external collaboration efforts."

"The software development industry is led by innovation," said Alan Zeichick, Editor-in-Chief of BZ Media's SD Times. "When choosing the 2005 SD Times 100, we carefully considered each organization's products and services, reputation with development managers, and the new ideas and thought leadership that it has brought to the industry. Thanks to the SD Times 100 winners, the art of software development continues to advance at a rapid pace."

"We are honored at the recognition SourceForge Enterprise Edition is getting this year," said Sheila Baker, senior vice president of marketing for VA Software. "In addition to the SD Times 100, we've been selected as a Gartner Cool Company and as a finalist in the eWEEK Excellence Award for application development. Together, this recognition shows the impact SourceForge Enterprise Edition is having on enterprise software development."

Today's enterprise software developers face increasingly difficult challenges including geographically distributed development teams; strict government regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley; and organizational changes that lead to disparate development tools and disconnected organizational structures. These challenges can cause inefficient and costly software development processes.

SourceForge Enterprise Edition helps solve these challenges by delivering proven open source development techniques to enterprise developers. SourceForge Enterprise Edition provides a secure, centralized application that connects disparate software development tools and processes. It contains a fully-integrated set of collaboration, project management and change management capabilities for optimizing and managing distributed software development.
