Bad news for people in their mid-30s: 35 is the worst age, according to Tom Hanks. The 68-year-old is currently starring in Robert Zemeckis’s Here, which uses AI to portray the actors at various ages throughout the film. While discussing the movie in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor was asked if there were any decades he might like to revisit. While he couldn’t put his finger on a time he’d like to relive, he was adamant that he’d prefer to leave his 30s in the past.

“The hardest for us was when we were playing 35,” he said. “That time when your metabolism stops, gravity starts tearing you down, your bones start wearing off. You stand differently.”

However, there is a bright side: The Oscar winner added that he’s “in better shape now” than he was in his 30s. “You know why? Because my kids are grown up, I’m getting decent exercise, and I can eat right,” he said. “You can’t do that when you’re 35. Life is such a burden!”

Hanks also recently told People that while it was “good to look young again” in the film, he would “rather be as old as I am.” So, I think this is actually good news for everyone worried about aging: Tom Hanks loves getting older, and you can, too.
