Future Society Design Program

Workshop on Resilience : Learning from the Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction

Information

This program will explore the sustainability impact of wood construction in resilient cities. Based on the knowledge gained from the eastern Sendai area, which was severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami, and subsequently declared a disaster risk zone and uninhabitable, we will discuss how wood can contribute to the resilience (social, economic, environmental, and urban architecture) of each country's future vision, and envision a model for a future society that can live with wood. We will also envision a model for future societies that live with wood.
