The Win32/Win64 OpenSSL Installation Project is dedicated to providing a simple installation of OpenSSL for Microsoft Windows. It is easy to set up and easy to use through the simple, effective installer. No need to compile anything or jump through any hoops, just click a few times and it is installed, leaving you to doing real work. Download it today! October 22, 2024 - OpenSSL 3.4 is available. Users should currently install a 3.x series and generally only need a Light edition. All application developers should have migrated their applications to use the OpenSSL 3.x series. Note that 3.0.x is a LTS release series while 3.4.x is not.

Stop asking me for versions of OpenSSL that have security vulnerabilities in them! That would be any version of OpenSSL prior to the absolute latest build. This is a security product and yet people regularly ask me for a version with security vulnerabilities in it! Oh the irony. Please punch yourself in the face to knock some common sense into yourself. Thank you.
August 15, 2024: "Hello, I am a Cybersecurity Analyst in our InfoSec dept. at our Random Insurance Co located in Florida. Attached is an Excel document with the standard security questionnaire that we require all software vendors to complete per insurance regulation. If you are not the correct person to handle this request, please forward it to the person who is." Oh I'm required to fill this out? Lemme just go ahead and open up this random attachment from Florida Man in my email. Nothing could ever go wrong with that. By the way, the word 'cyber' is always cringe.
June 17, 2015 at some ungodly hour of the morning I received this gem (get ready to facepalm hard): "Hi, We use Openssl0.9.5a with Windows Server 2008 edition. [Mind you, 0.9.5a was originally released on April 3, 2000 with 6 major releases and countless security vulnerabilities patched in the 15 years that have passed since that release. But wait, it gets better...] Does Openssl0.9.5a works with Windows Server 2012? Also what is the stable production version that can be used for Windows Server 2012? Help is highly appreciated." Wow.
"Do you partner with resellers? If so, I'd like to request a quote for qty. one of Win32 OpenSSL [outdated, insecure version goes here]." I have nothing polite to say to you. Please tell your customer that they are dingbats. And if you are the customer making this request to a third-party software acquisition firm, please first learn how to read (see above regarding outdated versions). Then change your software acquisition process to be infinitely less asinine since it probably involves deep-frying the software that you acquire in bacon fat before delivery to your company's machines.

Shining Light Productions' Technical Support is highly acclaimed by many as the best in the software industry. The reason? You get to talk to the original/current developer of the product one-on-one...this means that there is no annoying third party using scripted responses.

The downside is that, since you ARE e-mailing a real developer, you need to realize this and respect the developer, no matter what mood he/she is in. A developer's time is extremely valuable and a developer may not be in the most pleasant mood all the time. You can quickly get on any developer's nerves by e-mailing multiple times, mis-spelling, mis-communicating, need to be told where your "Start" button is, or you manage to catch the developer at the end of an eight hour debugging session (or worse, the frantic portion of a release cycle). Shining Light Productions aims to be polite, but does not tolerate someone intentionally wasting a developer's time. In addition to being concise, organized, and communicating clearly, below are some guidelines to follow that make the Shining Light Productions developer's job that much easier to formulate a good response in a timely manner.

Bug Reports: To report a bug in the Win32/Win64 OpenSSL Installation Project, send an e-mail to Shining Light Productions describing your system setup, pertinent configuration information, what your intended goal is, and provide all related information (no matter how irrelevant it seems) to the bug.

Feature Requests: To suggest a feature, send an e-mail to Shining Light Productions describing the feature in as much detail as possible. Try to think of ways to make it benefit other users and thus make it a powerful, generic feature.

General Questions: If none of the above applies to your question, make sure it hasn't already been answered. For general questions or problems send an e-mail to Shining Light Productions containing your question about/problem(s) with the product. If applicable, send a configuration file that demonstrates the problem.
