SENCHA COMPETITION OFFICIAL RULES
This competition is sponsored by Sencha, Inc. (“Sencha”), a Delaware corporation located at 4001 W. Parmer Lane, Suite 125, Austin, Texas 78727. These are the official rules (“Official Rules”), which govern your participation in this competition (“Competition”).
THERE IS NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR RECEIVE A FREE AWARD (DEFINED BELOW). THIS COMPETITION IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. VOID IN ANY STATE WHERE LOCAL REGISTRATION LAWS WERE NOT COMPLIED WITH.
BY PARTICIPATING, YOU AGREE TO THESE OFFICIAL RULES. ALL DATA REQUESTED AT REGISTRATION, AWARD FULFILLMENT OR AT ANY OTHER TIME IN CONNECTION WITH THIS COMPETITION MUST BE ACCURATE. IF INACCURATE INFORMATION IS SUPPLIED, IT WILL RESULT IN YOUR DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE COMPETITION AND PREVENT THE AWARDING OF THE FREE AWARD TO YOU. You represent and warrant that by participating in this Competition you are not violating any law or policy of your employer.

2. Promotion Period
The promotion period for the Competition begins at 10:00 am CT on November 7, 2024 and ends at 12:00 am CT on February 7, 2025 (“Promotion Period”).
3. Eligibility Requirements
You are eligible if you meet the following requirements below at time of entry:
- You are at least 18 years of age;
- If you are 18 years of age or older but have not reached the age of majority in your legal place of residence, then you must have consent of a parent/legal guardian;
- For residents of Germany, France, or the province of Quebec in Canada, the Terms and Conditions are provided in the respective local language.
- You are not a resident of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Russia, and the Region of Crimea;
- U.S. export regulations prohibit the export of goods and services to these regions;
- You are not a resident of Brazil, Italy, Egypt, Switzerland, Hong Kong or the Philippines;
- These regions may require the Competition to be registered, licensed, or bonded;
- You are not a resident of Spain;
- Spain requires cumbersome tax filings are required, in addition to Spanish registration;
- You are not a resident of Croatia or Italy;
- These regions requires a separate pool of national entrants;
- Italy requires a fiscal representative in Italy;
- You are not an employee of Sencha, its parent, affiliates and promotional agencies;
- You are not involved in any part of the execution or administration of this Competition; and
- You are not an immediate family member of (parent, sibling, spouse/domestic partner, child) or household member of an employee of Sencha, or its parent, affiliates or promotional agencies, or a person involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Competition.
This Competition is subject to all applicable federal, state, territorial, municipal, local, and other laws and regulations, and is void outside the geographic area described above and wherever else prohibited by law.
4. Contest Submission Procedure

- Create a private GitHub repository containing your project’s source code.

- Host your application online to provide a live version for evaluation. Free hosting services, such as Firebase, are recommended.

- Submit Your Entry:
- When both the GitHub repository and live app link are ready, submit the GitHub repository link and the live app URL.
Submit your entry via the designated Google form or directly on the contest landing page.
5. Award and Delivery Method
The judges will select three winners and will receive monetary awards as follows: First Winner: $2,000; Second Winner: $750; Third Winner: $250 (collectively, the “Awards”). The Award will be sent to the participant within 4 to 6 weeks of the winner’s announcement date i.e. February 19, 2025. The winner will be contacted by Email from [email protected]. Cash Awards will not be awarded in jurisdictions that do not permit cash awards, and may be substituted for the equivalent discount on Sencha products where permitted.
If you are confirmed as a winner:
- You may not exchange non-cash prizes for cash or any other merchandise or services. However, if for any reason an advertised prize is unavailable, we reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value; and
- You may not designate someone else as the winner. If you are unable or unwilling to accept your prize, we may award it to the next team/entrant; and
- Taxes on the prize, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winner, who is advised to seek independent tax counsel regarding the implications of accepting a prize; and
- By accepting a prize, you agree that Sencha may use your entry, name, image and hometown online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this Competition without payment or compensation to you, except where prohibited by law; and
- If you are otherwise eligible, but have not reached the age of majority in your legal place of residence, then we may award the prize to your parent/legal guardian on your behalf; and
- If you are selected as a semifinalist, you will need to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release. Any entrant receiving a cash prize will be required to submit a W-9 tax form (for U.S. residents) or a W-8BEN tax form (for non-U.S. residents) within the deadline stated in the winner notification.
- In case of a dispute regarding the identity of an entrant, we will consider the entrant to be the authorized account holder of the email address provided during entry. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned to an email address by an internet or online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses.
- If you do not complete and return the required forms within the specified time period, we may disqualify you and invite the next team/entrant.
- If at any time during the Competition, you become ineligible after you’ve submitted an entry, please proactively remove yourself from your team and cease participating.
6. General Standards for Entries
In addition to the requirements listed above, all entries must meet the following general standards:
- Your entry must be your own original work.
- You must have obtained all consents, approvals, or licenses required for you to submit your entry; and
- To the extent that entry requires the submission of user-generated content such as software, photos, videos, music, artwork, essays, etc., entrants warrant that their entry is their original work, has not been copied from others without permission or apparent rights, and does not violate the privacy, intellectual property rights, or other rights of any other person or entity; and
- Your entry may NOT contain, as determined by us in our sole and absolute discretion, any content that is obscene or offensive, violent, defamatory, disparaging, or illegal, or that promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco or a particular political agenda, or that communicates messages that may reflect negatively on the goodwill of Sencha.
7. Copyright
Your entire entry must only include material (including source code – both open source and third party sourced, user interface, music, video, or images) that you own or that you have permission to use from the copyright/trademark owner. Your entry will be disqualified if it includes copyrighted materials (such as source code, user interface, background music, images, or video) without appropriate licensing or permissions. If you use permissible copyrighted materials, you must include permissions information by citing the artist/creator and license information. Note that even material released under sites such as Creative Commons, common open-source code licenses, and other similar licensing may need permission or acknowledgement as per the specific license.
8. General Release/Conditional Limitation of Liability
BY ENTERING THIS COMPETITION, PARTICIPANTS AGREE TO INDEMNIFY, RELEASE, DISCHARGE AND HOLD HARMLESS SENCHA, ITS SUBSIDIARIES, SHAREHOLDERS, DIRECTORS AND EMPLOYEES AND, TO THE EXTENT APPLICABLE, EACH OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA PROVIDERS USED BY SENCHA TO PROMOTE THE COMPETITION (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FACEBOOK, GOOGLE, LINKEDIN AND TWITTER) FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY AND/OR DAMAGES, WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT, WHICH MAY BE DUE TO OR ARISE OUT OF PARTICIPATION IN THIS COMPETITION OR ANY PORTION THEREOF, OR THE ACCEPTANCE, USE/MISUSE OR POSSESSION OF THE AWARD. NOTWITHSTANDING THE FOREGOING, IN THE EVENT THAT THE PRECEDING RELEASE IS DETERMINED BY A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION TO BE INVALID OR VOID FOR ANY REASON, THE ENTRANT AGREES THAT, BY ENTERING THIS COMPETITION, (I) ANY AND ALL DISPUTES, CLAIMS, AND CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THIS COMPETITION, OR ANY AWARDS AWARDED, SHALL BE RESOLVED INDIVIDUALLY WITHOUT RESORT TO ANY FORM OF CLASS ACTION; (II) ANY CLAIMS, JUDGMENTS AND AWARDS SHALL BE LIMITED TO ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS INCURRED, IF ANY; AND (III) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY ENTRANT BE PERMITTED TO OBTAIN ANY AWARD FOR, AND ENTRANT HEREBY WAIVES ALL RIGHTS TO CLAIM, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES AND ANY AND ALL RIGHTS TO HAVE DAMAGES MULTIPLIED OR OTHERWISE INCREASED AND ANY OTHER DAMAGES, OTHER THAN DAMAGES FOR ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES.
All local laws apply. The decisions of Sencha are final and binding.
We reserve the right to cancel, change, or suspend this Competition for any reason, including cheating, technology failure, catastrophe, war, or any other unforeseen or unexpected event that affects the integrity of this Competition, whether human or mechanical. If the integrity of the Competition cannot be restored, we may select winners from among all eligible entries received before we had to cancel, change or suspend the Competition.
If you attempt or we have strong reason to believe that you have compromised the integrity or the legitimate operation of this Competition by cheating, hacking, creating a bot or other automated program, or by committing fraud in any way, we may seek damages from you to the full extent of the law and you may be banned from participation in future Sencha promotions.
9. Use of Your Entry
We are not claiming ownership rights to your entry. Sencha does not take any equity in the businesses submitted to the Competition. All intellectual property rights for the entries remain with their respective owners. However, by submitting your entry, you grant us an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide right and license to use, review, assess, test, and otherwise analyze your entry and all its content in connection with this Competition and use your entry in any media whatsoever now known or later invented for any non-commercial or commercial purpose, including, but not limited to, the marketing, sale, or promotion of this Competition without further permission from you. You will not receive any compensation or credit for use of your entry, other than what is described in these Official Rules.
By entering, you acknowledge that we may have developed or commissioned materials similar or identical to your entry and you waive any claims resulting from any similarities to your entry. Further you understand that we will not restrict work assignments of representatives who have had access to your entry, and you agree that use of information in our representatives’ unaided memories in the development or deployment of our products or services does not create liability for us under this agreement or copyright or trade secret law.
During and after this Competition, your entry may be posted on a public website. We are not responsible for any unauthorized use of your entry by visitors to this website. We are not obligated to use your entry for any purpose, even if it has been selected as a winning entry.
If you do not want to grant us these rights to your entry, please do not enter this Competition.
10. Disqualification
Entries generated by facsimile, script, macro or other automated means, that have been tampered with or altered, or that are stolen, postage due, misdirected, garbled, delayed by computer transmissions, incomplete, illegible, inaccurate, corrupted, lost, late or damaged, are all void and will not be accepted. All entries must be individually completed and no automated entries, mass entries, entries from multiple accounts by the same user, reproductions or photocopied entries will be accepted. In addition, multiple entries in a single day will not be accepted. Sencha, its participating Award partners, and service providers are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any network or telephone lines, incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access any web site or online service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, illegible or misdirected entries. If, for any reason, the Competition is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sencha which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition, Sencha reserves the right at its sole discretion to void the entries at issue and/or terminate the Competition and to award the free Award using all eligible entries received as of the termination date. If the Competition is terminated due to tampering or technical difficulties prior to its expiration date, notice will be posted at Sencha’s website. Sencha reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant that tampers with the operation of or abuses any aspect of this Competition or violates the Official Rules of this Competition.
11. Governing Law
This Competition and the rights and obligations of the entrants will be governed and controlled by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, and any disputes shall be referred to the exclusive jurisdiction of the State of Texas, US courts.
These Official Rules do not, nor do they purport to, limit, exclude or modify any non-excludable statutory guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or any other warranties (whether express or implied) under any Australian state or federal legislation which cannot be excluded.
12. Privacy
Personal information of entrants will be used to enable the Award to be sent out. In addition, Sencha will use your personal information in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in Sencha’s privacy policy available at http://www.idera.com/legal/privacystatement. You agree to the processing of your personal information for the purposes and in the manner set out above.
