Names of the Dead

The Department of Defense has identified 1,080 American service members who have died as a part of the Afghan war and related operations. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans this week:

BURY, Brandon C., 26, Sgt., Marines; Kingwood, Tex.; First Marine Division.

HERNANDEZ, Derek, 20, Lance Cpl., Marines; Edinburg, Tex.; First Marine Division.

MARLER, Donald M., 22, Cpl., Marines; St. Louis; First Marine Division.

McGAHAN, Michael E., 23, Second Lt., Army; Orlando, Fla.; 101st Airborne Division.

THEINERT, Joseph J., 24, First Lt., Army; Sag Harbor, N.Y.; 10th Mountain Division.
