Record and edit MIDI directly inside instrument tracks

Instrument tracks can now hold MIDI data, so everything you need is consolidated into a single track. You no longer need to have a separate MIDI track for the instrument (although you can still do so, if you wish). For multi-timbral VI's, you have two choices: combine multi-channel MIDI streams into the VI's instrument track (see further info below), or break out each part (MIDI channel) into a separate MIDI track, as in previous versions of DP.

Enter any text you wish as an articulation with the new Text Articulation tool. Assign performance characteristics to your custom text articulations using DP's new Articulation Maps feature.

Projects with large numbers of audio tracksÂ openÂ and switchÂ chunks much faster.
A new MIDI event type has been added to support intuitive recording and editing of registered controllers (RPNs) and assignable controllers (NRPNs).
In QuickScribe you can now graphically select and delete articulations.
You can also scale music notation relative to page size on both Mac and Windows (from 10-500%)Â and save the setting with the project.
Meter animation during playback has been optimized.
When using the MCU single-fader plug-in, toggling the automation mode affects theÂ "selected" track (or the last known selected track).
TheÂ Track Record EnableÂ command (and similar commands that allow you to choose a track) now lets you enter tracks above 99 with numeric entry.

Multi-channel MIDI tracks

Record, play and edit multi-channel MIDI streams

You can now record and play multiple channels of MIDI data in a single track. When setting MIDI track input and output assignments, instead of choosing a specific channel, you can choose â€˜any.â€™Â When you choose â€˜anyâ€™ for input, you can record all 16 MIDI channels into the track at once. The channels are stored with the MIDI events in the track. When you choose â€˜anyâ€™ in the track's output assignment, the events will be played out on the same channel they were recorded.

Enhanced View Filtering

Show and hide individual MIDI channel data using the new â€˜Channel Selectorâ€™ section in the Track Selector. Use the â€˜Event Type Selectorâ€™ section to show and hide specific event types.

Track and Clip Effects

Apply non-destructive quantizing and transposition

Every audio track, MIDI track and clip now has a basic transpose setting that you can use to transpose the content of that track or clip by an interval on playback, leaving the original data unaffected. You can conveniently change the setting at any time. MIDI tracks and clips also have a quantize setting, in addition to transpose.

Hear audio output where you expect it

On macOS, if you havenâ€™t yet selected the audio hardware you wish to use with DP, DP finds the best option for you. If you have a MOTU interface, or other professional interface, DP uses it. If not, DP uses whatever input and output devices you have selected in the System Preferences Sound Panel, and will follow your selection there if you change it. Of course, if you do choose an interface from within DP, DP uses it.
