The term was brought to attention by Mackenzie Pearson a 19 year old student at Clemson University who wrote a piece about them for her student website The Odyssey. Her piece titled 'Why Girls Love The Dad Bod' praises the male body with a few more curves. It's not an overweight guy, but it isn't one with washboard abs, either." So muscles and a bit of a beer gut basically. The term has been picked up by a number of publications, with GQ even suggesting a 'dad bod' diet (it's mostly Gatorade and pizza). Delicious. So what does a dad bod look like in practice? Chris Pratt (before he got super buff), Jason Segal, and Leonardo Di Caprio are being held up as the celebrity faces of 'dad bods' everywhere. Leonardo DiCaprio, a real life dad bod ( Image: Splash) The term has been well received with the growing pressure on men to spend hours in the gym to get buff. Many men have been proudly posting pics of their 'dad bods' on the beach, and there's even an Instagram account praising the look (it's worth following just for the captions).
