Dear Colleague

McDonalds workers in Manchester will be taking strike action on Tuesday 1st May at McDonalds, 36/38 Oxford Road, Manchester. The strike is supported by their union BFAWU and Fast Food Rights, and our TUC North West Executive Committee yesterday [25 Apr] agreed to seek the fullest possible support for the workers involved in this action.

As these workers take a stand against the world’s second largest private employer, anything you can do to show your solidarity will help boost their confidence.

Lewis Baker, a McDonald’s worker in Crayford, said:

Every message of support builds our confidence as we stand up to this bullying company and demand a fair wage and respect on the job. When we stand on the picket line we are standing up for everyone. When we win everyone wins! Get your McStrike on and show your McSolidarity!

We’ve put together the following list of actions to help show your McSolidarity.

Publicise and mobilise for the pickets - Please encourage union activists and officers to support the pickets taking place in Manchester . Banners and union flags are most welcome

1. Issue a press statement supporting the action - please copy us in on any statements so we can share them with the organisers

2. Send messages of support - we will be setting up an on line service but in the meantime messages of support can be sent to [email protected]

3. Go to the Fast Food Rights website to find out other ways you can support the action

Please do what you can to publicise and support this important action.

Best wishes
