All photos Stephen Hall, 12 August Campaigners today targeted Vestas Wind Systems company in Birchwood, Warrington as part of a nation-wide protest over job losses and the environment. A spokesperson said: Our protest today turned the spotlight on Vestas bosses. . This anti-union firm wants to add 600 people to the unemployment queue when figures out this week showed there are nearly 2. 5million out of work already. In solidarity with campaigners across the country, our action today is part of an on-going campaign to save these 600 jobs vital for employment and the environment.
Workers are demanding the government steps in to secure the jobs and demonstrate its commitment to green jobs is more than just spin. Creating jobs in renewable energy is a vital challenge, and yet the government is watching 600 be cast aside. We will not stand for this, and continue escalating our campaign in the weeks ahead.
