Save Liverpool Womens Hospital and KONP Merseyside joined in the national day of action to demand Not a Penny More to Serco on Tues 18 August, 2pm Liverpool Town Hall, Dale St. We have been pushing for local track, trace, isolate and support systems. Liverpool Council recently started a local track and trace system which was then able to respond quickly to a rise in cases in the Princes Park area. Using traditional shoe leather local public health methods, door knocking, getting the message out using the local community, e.g. the well known ice cream van, using different languages, reassuring the community they wont be asked for immigration status, providing easily accessible walk in testing. Local knowledge and mobilising the local community has worked in reducing the spike. Serco & Sitel call centres are seen as remote, not trusted, inefficient, expensive and there to make profit. Give the money to local councils instead. Lesley Mahmood |
