Energy Efficient

We were the first builder to make a broad commitment to building ENERGY STAR® certified homes, a standard of energy performance achieved by fewer than 10% of new homes in America. We have also built more ENERGY STAR certified homes than any other builder.

Our new homes feature energy-efficient appliances and lighting, have fewer air leaks and drafts, and reduced noise to deliver an average estimated annual savings of up to $1,300 on utility bills compared to used homes. We also provide an Energy Savings Comparison to demonstrate the lower monthly cost of homeownership possible when you purchase a new KB home.

Water Conservation

Water is a vital natural resource and we use a lot of it every day, so we made sure that every new KB home includes water-saving features like WaterSense® labeled faucets, toilets and showerheads to maximize efficiency, reduce consumption and help save you money. Dishwashers are ENERGY STAR® certified to use significantly less water than standard models — and you can personalize with additional water-saving features and appliances at our Design Studio.

Fun fact. On average, our water-efficient features help save an estimated $500 annually on utility bills when compared to homes without these features. And who doesn’t love saving money.

Healthy Home

We recognize that the indoor air you breathe is equally important to the outdoor air you breathe. Our new homes are designed to deliver an enhanced indoor air environment, with high-performance ventilation that regularly introduces fresh outdoor air and helps reduce indoor air pollutants. Every new community also includes MERV-13 rated air filters, one of the highest rated residential filters on the market, designed to remove dust, pollen, mold and certain bacteria and viruses for better air quality.

You’ll also be happy to learn that every new KB home includes environmentally-conscious products like Shaw® flooring, Sherwin-Williams® paint, and cabinetry that have fewer harsh chemicals.
