MEET KIRBEY
Meet Kirbey, the owner & founder of the Flower House And Farm: A full service floral design house specializing in unique, lush designs. Kirbey has made a name for herself with her whimsical touch on classic styles.
Her love of flowers started early in life. She always loved the outdoors and was fascinated with the different types of blooms and landscapes. A creative at heart, Kirbey dabbled in multiple artistic pursuits, but ultimately found herself in the floral design world where she blossomed (no pun intended)!!
She learned under top industry leaders for many years before opening her own business in Highland Park, IL. Still today, she takes the time each year to travel somewhere new and learn important techniques from other top designers.
She prides herself not only on her beautiful craft, but the personalized experiences she gives each and every client. Kirbey is just one of those people - she makes you feel as if you've known her forever moments after you've met her!
Outside of her work, Kirbey is a wife and momma to three beautiful girls, is always on the go and you wont find her without an iced coffee (even in the depths of winter).
HISTORY
The Greenhouse was built by the Bahr family in 1894. When they decided to close in 2018 the business was 123 years old. It was the second oldest business in the State of Illinois and the oldest business in Highland Park. It was one of the few glass greenhouses left in the state, and definitely a dying breed in this country. The structure and glass panes had been brought in by freight trains, and hand assembled right here! While things have certainly been updated a bit since then, the charm and integrity of the structure still stands today.
AND HERE WE ARE
Over 125 years later: I feel honored to be running this business - something that is truly a piece of history. My family bought the property from the last generation of Bahrs’ to run the greenhouse, and while we may not be doing things exactly as they did, I like to believe we are giving it new purpose, and new life. The main difference is that we do not grow in the traditional model of a greenhouse. We maintain the Tropical trees, Fruit Trees and forty year old Jade trees we’ve inherited, but the main goal is to grow for cut flower production.
We are as much of a Flower Farm as a traditional greenhouse (hence our wonderful name) - The Flower House & Farm.

Our 2024 Summer Subscription is live! We are so excited to offer our beloved subscription for its' seventh Summer. We have an exciting crop planned, and can't wait to start sharing it with you!
