Design can be a balm for many things, and in the case of this Park Avenue apartment, it was an especially poignant catalyst for healing. The homeowners had recently suffered an unbearable loss, and commissioned architectural designer Antonio Matrēs of NYC and Madrid-based Antonio Matrēs Design to transform the space into a fresh, uplifting environment that would mark the beginning of a new journey for its inhabitants. The result is a peaceful, modern retreat that creates a soft landing space amidst the bustle of the city.
Antonio Matrēs’s approach was both sensitive and thoughtful, turning the apartment into a modern oasis that fosters renewal and comfort. With an open, flowing design, the 1,400-square-foot space now includes three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a seamless connection between the foyer, kitchen, dining, and living rooms. The result is a light, welcoming home that reflects the family's desire for a fresh start. Matrēs skill in transforming spaces into personal sanctuaries is showcased beautifully in this project.
