From Phius
Saint Clair, the first Phius-certified passive net zero home in Los Angeles, stands as a testament to the seamless blend of luxury and eco-conscious living. Nestled in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles, this new construction build showcases innovative design and Phius passive building concepts working together harmoniously.
The home's exterior features drought-tolerant rooftop planters, blurring the lines between natural and built environments. Golden Balau siding, chosen for its beauty, durability, and sustainability features, frames the property and extends into the indoors. The interior design prioritizes natural light and seamless indoor/outdoor flow. The main level serves as a communal space, connecting to three outdoor areas: a rooftop deck with mountain views, a courtyard with an outdoor fireplace, and a backyard featuring a pool and spa. The lower level, illuminated by light wells, offers 1,200 square feet of multifunctional space suitable for various purposes.
Designed by Aramyan Kovacs Design and built by Kovacs Design Build, Saint Clair adheres to Phius’ climate-specific building standards - focused on enhancing design while meeting rigorous performance requirements. The home incorporates European lift and slide doors, and tilt-turn windows for air sealing, Prosoco products for water and air barriers, and a continuous thermal barrier using exterior polyiso and closed cell spray foam. A Zehnder HRV system ensures superior indoor air quality.
As Los Angeles' first Phius-certified passive net zero home, Saint Clair sets a precedent for sustainable building in Southern California. It demonstrates that high-performance, energy-efficient homes can be both luxurious and environmentally responsible, paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable built environment in the region.
