Dr Who? Fish Fingers and "Custard"

Hello fellow whovians! Welcome to the Dr Who edition of Cooking 4 Noobs! Today's dish is inspired by the Eleventh Hour Episode.
 
We will not be using actual custard, rather a delicious dip that resembles a creamy custard. I hope that you enjoy fish, because this recipe is pretty damn delicious. 
 
EXTERMINATE!
 
 
Level: Noob
Time: 30 Minutes
Serves: 4 Whovians
 
The Goods:
 
For the Fingers:
 
1 1/2  pounds -  Talapia, Cod, Salmon, or Flounder (you choose the fish of your choice)
2 cups - Panko Breadcrumbs / pre seasoned (these can be found in the international/asian isle of your grocer)
1 Tablespoon - Oldbay Seasoning
1 Cup - grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 Cup - All Purpose Flour
2 eggs - beaten
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Cooking Spray
Fresh Lemon Slices
 
For the Custard:
 
1/3 cup - plain greek style yogurt
3 Tablespoons - Mayonnaise (Lite if you prefer)
2 Tablespoons - Dijon/Spicy Deli Mustard
1/2 Teaspoon - Worcestire Sauce
2 Teaspoons - Chopped/Grated Horseradish
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
Pinch of Paprika
 
Tutorial:
 
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F
Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
In a Bowl, combine the flour, salt and pepper, and oldbay seasoning.
In a Seperate bowl, beat the eggs.
Finally in another bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese together.
Cut the fillets into 4 by 1-inch strips.
A few pieces at a time, dip the fish into the flour mixture, dusting off the excess.
Follow by dipping fish into the beaten eggs.
Lastly, dip the fish in the panko/parmesan mix.
Arrange them on the baking sheet and continue until all of the fish is breaded.
Bake until golden and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
You can flip them for another 2 minutes if necessary.
 
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together the yogurt, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish,paprika and cayenne.
Season, to taste, with freshly ground black pepper.
 
Enjoy and have a wibbly wobbly timey wimey!

PADawan Thai!

Hello to all my Padawans! Today I will be training you to conjure a delicious thai meal in a short time! Do you think you are up for the challenge?


PADawan THAI!



Cook Time: 45 minutes
Level: n00b



The Goods:


  • -1 (12 ounce) package rice noodles
  • -2 tablespoons butter
  • -1 package of pre-cooked chicken breast strips (Tyson, Butterball, Foster Farms will do)
  • -1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • -4 eggs
  • -Pad Thai Sauce (found on the INTERNATIONAL food isle in your Local Grocery Store)
  • -2 cups bean sprouts
  • -1/4 cup crushed peanuts
  • -1 lemon/lime, cut into wedges

Tutorial:
  • Soak rice noodles in cold water 30 minutes, or until soft. Drain, and set aside.
  • Heat butter in a wok or large heavy skillet. Saute chicken until browned. Remove, and set aside.
  • Heat oil in wok over medium-high heat. Crack eggs into hot oil, and cook until firm.
  • Stir in chicken, and cook for 5 minutes
  • Add softened noodles, and Pad Thai Sauce. Mix while cooking, until noodles are tender.
  • Add bean sprouts, and mix for 3 minutes. 
  • Garnish with crushed Peanuts and a lemon/lime wedge! 
  • ENJOY!

There you have it young padawan, you are close to becoming a Master Jedi!

Star Wars inspired "Leia Cinnamon Buns"


Star Wars inspired "Leia Cinnamon Buns"

I've always kind of wanted to eat her hair... ROFL!

Ooey Gooey Leia Cinnamon Buns!


Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 18 minutes 

Difficulty: n00b

Makes 12 servings



The Goods:

2 cans(8 Oz. Size, 10-count Each) Refrigerated Biscuit Dough
1/4 cupButter, Melted
1 teaspoonCinnamon
1/4 cupSugar
1/4 cupPacked Brown Sugar
1 cupPowdered Sugar
2 TablespoonsMilk


    Tutorial: 

    1. Preheat oven to 375ºF. Spray 12 muffin cups with nonstick spray.

    2. Mix white sugar and brown sugar in a bowl (Leave powdered sugar for later)

    3. Sprinkle a bit of flour on a cutting board or wax paper, then remove biscuits from cans and arrange to form a rectangle on the lightly floured surface (I had five rows of four biscuits).

     4. Press biscuit dough together and roll out to create a 10×12 rectangle.

    5. Brush melted butter on dough. 

    6. Sprinkle on cinnamon and sugar (The white and brown sugar mix). 

    7. Roll up tightly, starting at a long side. 

    8. Cut into 12 slices. 

    9. Tuck one slice into each of the muffin cups. 

    10. Bake for about 18–20 minutes until golden brown and crispy. 

    11. When done, allow to cool slightly while you mix together the powdered sugar and milk. 

    12. Drizzle on top of the cinnamon rolls while still warm.

    Zelda Zucchini Puffs






    • A long long time ago, in a land far far away, there was a brave boy named Link. He had a magic sword that would slay all things evil. However, on days that Link wasn't fighting off the wicked, he would go to his favorite eating place and gorge on deliciously golden and crunchy Zelda Zucchini Puffs!

    Okay I am not a great story teller, but I don't have to be because these Zucchini Puffs speak for themselves. Nothing is more delicious than fried stuff dipped in ranch dressing! These snacks are so easy to make and so delectable. Now lets get cookin and best of all EAT!



    • Level: n00b
    • Time: 20 Minutes
    • Creates 6 Servings

    • The Goods:


    • -2 cups shredded zucchini
    • -2 eggs
    • -1/4 cup finely chopped onion
    • -1 clove garlic, minced
    • -1 1/2 cups buttermilk baking mix
    • -salt and ground black pepper to taste
    • -oil for frying
    • -Ranch dressing for delicious dipping!

    Tutorial:


    1. In a large bowl, combine zucchini, eggs, onion, and garlic. Blend in baking mix, salt and pepper.
    2. Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a cast iron pan (about 3 inches in depth) or deep fryer to about 375 degrees fahrenheit (You can get a cooking thermometer from the 99 cent store)
    3. Drop batter by spoonfuls into hot oil, and fry until evenly brown and fluffy. Place puffs on paper towels to soak up excess oils. Sprinkle with salt before serving.
    4. Dip into ranch dressing if you do so desire
    5. ENJOY!

    **IMPORTANT!!** DO NOT POUR LEFT OVER OIL DOWN THE DRAIN!! PLEASE DISCARD OIL IN A NON-RECYCLABLE CONTAINER, IDEALLY A CAN OR EMPTY JAR. AND THROW AWAY IN THE TRASH!**

    Cooking For Noobs Launch

    Welcome one and all!

    This will become what I hope to be the "Tastiest Blog on the Internet"!  My goal is to teach fellow gamers how to survive in the kitchen. Conjuring food in WOW is much different than cooking in a real life kitchen. That is where I come in, to teach easy and delicious recipes for everyone to learn. 

    I plan on keeping a blog and posting cooking videos on YouTube so that YOU at home can follow along. This should be cheap, fun, low stress, delicious, and quick so that you can get back in time for your RAID.

    From one gamer to another, these recipes will not disappoint!!
