“Consistently investing in local artists”: Nottingham Playhouse artist development producer Beccy D’Souza

Nottingham Playhouse’s Amplify artist development programme is to increase the number of opportunities for Midlands artists to share their work by introducing Amplify: Seasons.

Four Amplify: Seasons events each year will give artists the chance to connect with audiences and receive feedback from members of the industry on their work at various stages of development. Amplify: Seasons will replace the annual Amplify festival.

Artists will be able to apply to the Seasons programme twice a year when submission windows open. Presented work may be work-in-progress or finished pieces. Artists will get rehearsal time in the Neville Studio before performances. They will also receive audience feedback on the work and mentoring from Nottingham Playhouse’s artist development producer Beccy D’Souza.

D'Souza said, “we’re responding to our Amplify members who want more consistent opportunities to share their work. Amplify: Seasons will consistently invest in local artists including taking risks on new work, new writing and artists moving in new directions. It’s fantastic to be able to put that in front of audiences on a more frequent basis.”

Artistic director Adam Penford added, “the Amplify programme is the best way for local theatre-makers to build a relationship with Nottingham Playhouse.”

Ideas can be submitted now until Thursday 13 February. Seasons will begin on Thursday and Friday, 3 and 4 July. Further information is available at the Nottingham Playhouse web site.
