Hi there!
I’m hatching quails at the moment and it’s been a bit of a drama-fest. The incubator I was using for the quails broke down right on hatching day, so I had to move the eggs to another incubator that’s around halfway through my chicken egg incubation period.
Out of my 5 quail eggs, 4 have hatched. However one pipped yesterday, and is still not out. I’ve attached a photo of where it’s at. I think it’s been about 24 hours since I first noticed a pip in the shell. The bird seems to be breathing and “nibbling” a bit. It’s currently day 19, counting the first day as day 0.
I really need to get in there to turn the chicken eggs, and I thought it would have hatched by now, so I’m not really sure what to do…
Also it seems as though the 5 button quail eggs aren’t doing anything. They were impossible to candle and have no pips or movement.
Should I give it more time? Or is it time to intervene? Will it hurt the chicken to open the incubator to turn the chicken eggs?
