JOY is the 14th studio album from American jam band, Phish. The 10-track alcubm was produced by Steve Lillywhite and includes the single "Time Turns Elastic".
これはphishというよりメンバーのソロアルバム。 the story of the ghost以降自分達でひたすらジャムって楽曲をつくらなくなったphish。その結果、farmhouseやround roomではトレイやマイクのすばらしいライティングセンスで絶妙なポップアルバムにしあがった。飽和状態になりライブで精彩をかきはじめた彼らはundermindを発表して解散

I just want to start off by saying that I saw Phish perform at the Big Cypress NYE show for NYE 99-00 and it was the BEST show I've ever seen in my life. They are truly the most talented American rock band out there today. This release was their first after a years long hiatus, so it gave them time to refocus. This has resulted in ten solid tracks, including the epic Time Turns Elastic, Backwards Down the Number Line, the sweet, mellow sounds of the song Joy and other great tracks. This album was also released simultaneously with another album, called Party Time, which is another uplifting, positive-vibe album. I can't wait until they release more material. Go to phishows dot com to legally download virtually every single live show they have ever performed in their entire career! Five out of five stars for a solid, positive-vibe album!
"Joy" est un album euphorisant, emballant où ne pas taper du pied est impossible. Les mélodies sont fantastiques, les parties de solos de guitare signées par Trey Anastasio, également chanteur, sont d'anthologie. Ca décolle à chaque morceau et dès le début sur "Backwards down the umber line". Une ambiance live domine tout au long de cet enregitrement. A découvrir absolument !!!

Summary: This is a great album. It’s got two simply amazing songs, around 4 very good songs and a couple of slightly weaker (but not ‘must skip’ ones). If you like Phish, buy this.
Full review: So, I bought this when it was released a number of years ago and wrote a frankly damning two star review of it (attached below for completeness). I then didn’t listen to it for years. However, after listening to their (good but less good then this one album Fuego I thought I would give this another go. And it’s good. Very good.
This is a hopeful, upbeat and, in the best songs spirt soaring album, with some nice intricate jams and a plethora interesting lyrics. Like most albums it seems to have it’s own style so is hard to compare to others, but if forced I guess perhaps it’s a little more like ‘waves’ or ‘cave’ from round room. I guess. Or perhaps ‘scents and subtle sounds’ from undermind. But it is hard to pin down. Actually, I might even say that in it’s best songs it’s got much like ‘divided sky’ from way back in Junta in it. It is currently always top of my play list but I imagine it will soon sink down to join the general phish pantheon as another album which I can easily and regularly reach for. I am pleased to be able to do so.
I think what happened before when I originally reviewed this was that I was just geared up to judge harshly and was looking to find fault after the long gap in releases. Or I was just not in the right mood when I first listened to it.
My previous review was: “Man, I loved fish, up until around round room. Round room was flawed but had a handful of amazing tracks which saved it. After that.... phew. They are still my favourite band but do yourself a favour - don't spoil past joy by listening to a voice you love singing average average songs.
There is nothing inspiring here, nothing innovative. It's just getting more and more poppy, less and less intricate, and a little bid desperate to recreate the 'zanyness' of their past glory. Give a it a miss guys.”
