The State of World Health Today and Trajectories For The Future | Christopher J.L. Murray

Is this a right handed world? #health #today #new #youtube #fun #music #art #breakingnews #fitness
Are right handed people mentally different compared to left handed people? Is there an actual difference between being right handed and left handed?
I believe that both the right hand and left hand have different unique talents and so by using both hands equally humans will then be able to access their entire brain and body.

Measuring population health for over twenty-five years, the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) is the largest and most comprehensive effort to date to measure epidemiological levels and trends worldwide.
The results show both major progress, for example in combating infectious disease, and also significant gaps, for example in tackling certain causes of death and disability. GBD is a valuable resource allowing users to better understand the disease profile of a given population, and thus understand what resources are needed to target and ultimately reduce the causes of death and disability in that population. This project draws upon efforts of more than 3,647 experts from 142 countries and territories.
This presentation will highlight key results from the GBD 2017 study, focusing on methods used to generate long-term projections, including plausible better and worse scenarios, to demonstrate the global impact of various conditions over the past two decades and moving forward.
About the speaker
Christopher J.L. Murray, MD, DPhil, Institute Director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), Professor and Chair of Health Metrics Sciences at the University of Washington.
Professor Murray’s career has focused on improving health for everyone worldwide by improving health evidence. A physician and health economist, his work has led to the development of a range of new methods and empirical studies to strengthen health measurement, analyze the performance of public health and medical care systems, and assess the cost-effectiveness of health technologies. IHME provides rigorous and comparable measurement of the world’s most important health problems and evaluates the strategies used to address them.
He holds undergraduate degrees from Harvard University, a DPhil in International Health Economics from Oxford University, and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School.
