Dugald Andrew Brown was born on Halloween in 1981 to Dugald J. and Alice Brown. He grew up in Martinsburg, WV and spent much of his childhood enjoying the beautiful outdoors. His participation in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America helped to nurture a permanent affinity for the outdoor sports and activities with which he fills his spare time to this day.
While attending Martinsburg High School, Dugald performed in the marching and concert bands, played for the school soccer team, and was involved in the Air Force Junior ROTC program. He was also active in the Senior Youth Group program at the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Inwood, WV, where he and his family still attend.
In 2000, Dugald entered West Virginia University where became an active member of Theta Chi fraternity and later a member of Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor society. He received a BS in Computer Science with a Minor is Communications in 2004, and received an MS in Computer Science with a certificate in Computer Forensics in 2007.
Dugald returned home to Martinsburg after graduating from WVU to begin his career in IT. Throughout his life, Dugald has worked in the private sector as well as for the state and multiple federal contractors. This diversity of experience has given him an appreciation for the similarities and differences between these employment environments.
In 2011, Dugald married Shannon Bittner after four years of courtship. They now live in Martinsburg, and in their free time, Dugald and Shannon enjoy spending time together running and hiking with their dogs, trekking through America’s National Parks, visiting with their nieces and nephews, and attending Mountaineer football and professional hockey games.
