Brett Ratner has come on as a producer to the docu “Night Will Fall,” the story of the restoration of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1945 documentary on the Holocaust.
Ratner will produce through the documentary films division of his RatPac Films banner. Sally Angel will join him as a producer with James Packer, Stephen Frears and Richard Melman are exec producing.
Pic will be screened as a work in progress at the Berlin Film Festival on Tuesday at Haus Der Berliner Festspiele. The director is Andre Singer, producer of the Oscar-nominated “The Act of Killing.”

We plan to share this amazing story of a legendary director tackling the most important event in modern history with as wide an audience as possible,” said Brett Ratner.
The docu retraces the story of the unfinished film, originally called “Memory of the Camps,” which for decades was known as “the missing Hitchcock.” Hitchcock came on to shape the footage shot by a British army camera crew that accompanied troops into a concentration camp to show the scale of the Nazi extermination efforts.

After the war was over, the Allies changed their policy about using footage that would paint Germany in a poor light, so the film was not released. An incomplete version was shown in 1985; the new version will include missing footage restored by Britain’s Imperial War Museum.
The deal was negotiated by Marie Therese Guirgis of RatPac Documentary Films and Victoria Cook of Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz with Philippa Kowarsky of Cinephil.
