21 projects have been granted funding from the rector's office to develop solutions to meet societal needs. We congratulate all the research groups!

Award winners Ajna Jusić, Alen Muhič, and Lejla Damon were all born as a result of sexual violence during the Bosnian War (1992-1995). They recieve the award for their pioneering work on behalf of war children, a group that is often forgotten.

Seven researchers from the University of Oslo (UiO) have been awarded Starting Grants from the European Research Council. These funds are given to researchers early in their career, with highly ambitious research projects that promise to make a significant impact.

Anders Jahre Award for Medical Research 2024 is given to Professor Lauri Aaltonen, University of Helsinki, and Professor Thomas Helleday, Karolinska Institutet. The Anders Jahre Award for Young Researchers goes to Associate Professor Nicolai Albrechtsen and Associate Professor Nicholas Taylor, both University of Copenhagen. 

On 24 June, the International Summer School (ISS) is welcoming about 500 students to the University of Oslo. For the 78th session of the summer school, students from 83 countries will attend various bachelor’s and master’s courses. 

An updated procurement strategy and revised ethical guidelines will be presented to the university board in September.

On Wednesday 19 June, there was an explosion in a building in Silurveien, where the University of Oslo rents premises for conducting examinations. Going forward, the exams will be held as planned.

A committee led by Professor Helge Jordheim has proposed a new language policy for the University of Oslo, which is now open for input.

Co-Create is all about helping students turn big ideas into real solutions for real-world problems. Students in the Oslo region who are curious about startups and entrepreneurship or just love solving problems can now apply to attend the new student innovation programme Co-Create. Application deadline for the initial design thinking workshops in March is 7 March.

An error in Feide has led to some of UiO´s service providers receiving more information than agreed when users (students and employees) logged in with Feide between 19 January at 11.43 and 25 January at 13.57.

An initiative at the Faculty of Medicine has become a donation scheme that everyone at UiO can use: PCs and other IT equipment to be phased out can be donated to primary schools in Ukraine.

The committee that will propose a new language policy for UiO is now getting started. The group is led by Helge Jordheim, and they are seeking input for their work.
