so basically what i've been doing is this. been in the market for a new car. new used car. i love my manual '01 nissan sentra but its been through a LOT these last 9 years and i dropped too much money on it this year to justify keeping it up any longer.
i'm very much hoping to go for a hatchback or wagon. i like the compact size and space/layout [esp in winter for carrying skis/equipment/making the drive to our place up north]
more than anything i want a subaru impreza wagon. perfect size, standard AWD. but lawd almighty are they hard to come by [even more so in my range in any kind of decent condition- thanks a lot awd] here. shit's POPULAR. after that i'd settle for the sedan version i guess- i have found a few nice ones that i'm considering but i wonder if its worth holding out in hopes that a wagon will pop up. they're also much easier to find, but the space/layout is a killer. they're cramped.
after imprezas i had more traditional hatchbacks in mind- top choices being toyota matrix, honda fit and then POSSIBLY mazda3 5-door or the pontiac vibe [if i could find one lol]. but these ARE boxier, a little clunkier, for the most part FWD, and its difficult finding folks/reviews discussing how they handle in snow/poor weather/mountains [especially since the information i DO find is inconsistent- some people fucking love their fits and some people despise them]. pros being the space/size i'm looking for and they comfortably fall into my price range with sane mileage. i could throw some snow tires on'm as well for winter.
so yea. after another disappointing few test drives [no wonder they kept stalling on the carfaxes- assholes] on subarus today i'm just getting bummed out. i found one flawless impreza sedan in manch...but gosh is it ever, i don't know, dull. for shits i am test driving some fits and a matrix tomorrow morning before work. there is a nearby volvo dealership with a PERFECT impreza wagon sitting in their lot that is about 2k above the top of my range. i am tempted to go and just SEE what i can get it down to.
TL;DR: these are all things normal people deal with used car hunting and i am just sorting out my thoughts and babbling. if you guys have tidbits or have owned any of these kinds of cars i am ALWAYS curious to hear what you think.
also i cannot commit to anything ever.
in other life news: THERE IS NONE. work and trying to get shit DONE in time for furfright!
