  • AI for Dentists?

This is definitely a bit off the beaten path, but I had a toothache so I flew to my dentist in Fort Worth since I’ve seen him since I was a kid and there’s no one better in my humble opinion. I’ve seen other dentists for routine cleanings and checkups as I travel the US, but a toothache means I need to see him since I know he’ll do a proper job.

As I was relaxing in the dental chair, I mentioned to him that I’m running an AI photo blog as a side passion project, and asked him if he used AI at all? He was intrigued by the idea, but was a bit of a pessimist about all things AI. So out came copilot, and I threw this prompt in to show him how it worked:

Prompt: A serene dental clinic interior with a male dentist gently working on a peaceful patient in a reclining chair. The room is softly lit, with large windows behind the dentist revealing a tranquil cityscape of Fort Worth, Texas. The view includes recognizable Fort Worth architecture and skyline elements, bathed in warm, golden sunlight to evoke peace and tranquility. The atmosphere inside the clinic is calm and professional, with clean, modern equipment and a soothing color palette of whites and soft blues. The patient appears relaxed and comfortable, while the dentist is focused and kind-faced.

To my surprise, the picture actually fits the prompt really well! I know the dentist in the picture is resting his hand on the patients forehead in a pretty disturbing fashion, but what can we really expect from AI lol. It impressed my dentist enough that he paused for maybe 30 seconds before sticking me with his needle to fix my tooth, but I’ll take a extra 30 seconds before being jabbed in the gums as a win.

  • Space Exploration

Prompt: A breathtaking image of a spaceship exploring a distant planet, with stunning landscapes and a sense of wonder.

    Engine: Microsoft

Looks straight out of a Martian sci-fi movie, funny how Star Wars has left such a strong impression on how AI generates spaceships. Definitely not a realistic view, but it shows how the “sum of the averages” that AI is a product of tends to weigh towards the popular. This gives me hope for the true artists and creators who rise above AI, because true human creativity can never be matched by AI.

I’m interested to see how far Microsoft is able to get with their copilot, in general it seems that AI is very power heavy. I’ve read quite a few articles that say that AI is the future of everything, but at the same time didn’t they say that about VR a few years back? Why is it that tech always has a “next big thing” that they are talking about, then sometimes the goalposts seem to change.

However if we analyze this image, the stars ion the top of the picture seem to be very evenly distributed, which doesn’t seem as realistic to me because when I look at the night sky in where I live, the stars are in clumps. I’m sure if you zoom in far enough with a telescope then there’s a more even distribution of stars, but to the naked eye there are clumps and empty spots that I assume correspond to galaxies and then the space between galaxies.

The landscape in this picture is very rugged with extremely harsh mountains, but evidently these mountains are not high enough to get snow or frozen precipitation on top of them. Typically here in the US when a mountain is high enough, it gets colder so there is a bit of snow that hangs around on the top.

  • Robot Rebellion

Prompt: A dramatic, illustration of robots rising up to rebel in a futuristic cityscape, with bold lines and neon lights.

    Engine: Microsoft

Here we go, what a classic photo with soviet/communism undertones rising up to rebel against… bad AI images perhaps? Not sure how we have a light saber in the mix, but that’s okay! Nothing like bright red eyes and clenched fists to symbolize some rebellion. I suppose that is an age old symbol.
