About Trichinella papuae

One of the Trichinella genus of parasitic nematodes, the causative agents of trichinosis (also known as trichinellosis). Trichinella papuae is a species which does not encapsulate in host muscle tissue and is found in wild and domestic pigs and saltwater crocodiles in Papua New Guinea and Thailand.

The genome of T. papuae was produced by the Gasser laboratory at the University of Melbourne, as part of the assembly and analysis of all 12 recognized Trichinella species (described in Korhonen et al (2016)).
