Thanksgiving and Black Friday are a week away, but since mattress brands aren’t too worried about letting you finish your pie before they try to convince you to shop, many of the holiday season’s annual mattress sales have already begun. Most of the discounts are fairly standard so far — not bad by any means, but about the same as you’d see during any sales holiday. Still, there are deals to be had, especially if you’re outfitting a guest room at the last minute; Layla, Nolah, and Bear’s deals are particularly noteworthy thanks to an extra discount just for Strategist readers. And Parachute’s rarely on-sale innerspring mattress is discounted more deeply this year than I’ve seen in the past. Below, I’ve rounded up the best early mattress deals I’ve found, and there will surely be more in the days ahead, so I’ll be updating this story all the way through Black Friday; keep checking back if there’s a specific bed you’re eyeing. And don’t forget to take a look at our roundup of all the best (non-mattress) early Black Friday deals, too.
Amazon
Amazon has noteworthy Black Friday deals on several different mattress brands. Nectar’s revamped collection is on sale, as is Casper’s on-the-way-out line of older (but still worthwhile!) models. Both the Kin by Tuft & Needle and the Sealy Dreamlife — which are more affordable versions of mattresses that the respective brands sell through third-party retailers — are well discounted. There’s also a memory-foam mattress from already-affordable Sweetnight, now under $200, and a latex hybrid from Awara for 20 percent off.
Amerisleep
Amerisleep sells three fairly standard mattresses, but what sets it apart is the company’s Bio-Pur foam, a memory-foam alternative made from plant-based materials and significantly less petrochemicals than true polyurethane foam. The brand says Bio-Pur foam is also bouncier and more breathable than traditional memory foam. Right now it is offering $500 off any mattress with the code BF500, as well as 30 percent off adjustable bed bundles (and Amerisleep just so happens to make our favorite adjustable bed base).
Avocado
Avocado is offering discounts on all of its mattresses, no code needed. Most mattresses are only 10 percent off, which is Avocado’s go-to sale; the standout discount right now is 20 percent off the Luxury Organic mattress (the brand’s most expensive and luxurious option). Avocado mattresses are a bit more expensive than average because of the natural and nontoxic materials used to make them — Avocado generally uses latex foam (instead of polyfoams) as well as cotton or wool finishings.
Bear
Bear is offering 40 percent off sitewide with the code STRAT40 — that’s an extra 5 percent off its standard deal, just for Strategist readers. Plus, they will throw in two free pillows with each mattress purchase. The brand’s mattresses range from the ultrabasic Bear Original to the luxe Bear Elite Hybrid, but all include the option to add a cover made from Celliant performance fabric, which is intended to promote muscle recovery.
Beautyrest
This legacy mattress brand is offering discounts across the Beautyrest Black and Harmony mattress models, up to $600 off, depending which line and size you choose. And for mattress and adjustable-base bundles, the savings are up to $1,000 off.
Birch
Use the code STRAT27 for 27 percent off at Birch, and with each mattress purchase, you’ll get two free Eco-Rest pillows — plush down alternatives filled with recycled PET (a.k.a. plastic bottles). Birch makes two adult mattresses, the Birch Natural and a Luxe version, as well as a child’s mattress. Strategist senior writer Liza Corsillo has been sleeping on the Birch Natural for a couple years now and reports it has a solidly medium-firm feel, which works well for both her (a back-to-side combination sleeper) and her stomach-sleeper husband.
Brentwood Home
Brentwood Home manufactures the majority of its products in California with a bent toward natural materials and ecofriendly processes. Its mattress discount is small — just 10 percent off all mattresses — but it is offering a hefty 60 percent off adjustable bases as well as discounts on bedding and pillows.
Brooklyn Bedding
This Arizona-based mattress-maker is offering 30 percent off sitewide with the code STRAT30. In addition to nice hybrid beds like the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe and the Signature Hybrid, Brooklyn Bedding also makes the ultrafirm Plank, which is one of our favorite firm mattresses, and the Titan Plus, which offers additional support for heavier folks.
Casper
Casper is offering up to 30 percent off all mattresses, so it’s a good time to buy a bed from its new lineup of mattresses that launched earlier this year. Strategist contributor Kiki Aranita is a big fan of the brand’s flagship model, the Casper One, and says it has an ideal middle-of-the-road firmness.
DreamCloud
DreamCloud makes three mattresses — the Original, the Premier, and the Premier Rest — which are all available as either an all-foam or hybrid model (the difference is in the height and number of layers). For its early Black Friday sale, the brand is taking up to 60 percent off all mattresses.
Eco Terra
If you’re shopping for a latex pillow, mattress, or mattress topper, Eco Terra is a good brand to check out. It’s taking $400 off its latex mattresses and up to 40 percent off toppers.
Emma
This German brand is offering up to 60 percent off mattresses leading up to Black Friday — higher than its usual sale.
Helix
Helix is offering up to 27 percent off sitewide with the code STRAT27 and throwing in two free pillows with any mattress purchase, or a bedding bundle of pillows, sheets, and a mattress protector with any mattress purchase from the higher-end Luxe and Elite lines. The brand’s mattresses are sorted into three lines — Core, Luxe, and Elite — which each contain six mattresses ranging from ultrasoft to ultrafirm. The Core mattresses are the cheapest and most minimal; the Elite are the most expensive and extravagant (seriously, they are some of the most luxurious mattresses I’ve seen).
Latex for Less
This purveyor of all things latex is offering up to $600 off mattresses, as well as up to 40 percent off latex toppers.
Layla
Layla is offering up to $200 off mattresses and giving you two free pillows with every purchase. Additionally, all accessories you buy along with a mattress (bedding, toppers, etc.) will be discounted by up to 76 percent. And, finally, Layla is offering an extra discount just for Strategist readers — take another $150 off the sale prices with the code STRAT150. Both of the brand’s mattresses are twofers because they are flippable with a soft and a firm side. Strategist writer Tembe Denton-Hurst tested the Layla Hybrid and says that both sides were supportive, but she appreciated the option to flip the mattress because she ultimately preferred the softer side.
Leesa
For its early Black Friday sale, Leesa is taking 25 percent off mattresses. Each mattress purchase will also come with two free pillows. Leesa sells a wide selection of mattresses, including our favorite all-foam mattress, the Leesa Original.
Nectar
The Nectar Original is one of the most popular memory-foam mattresses on the market — it’s currently our top pick for memory foam. Nectar is offering at least 50 percent off the Nectar Original and the rest of its mattresses, and for any purchase totaling over $1,000, Nectar will knock an extra $100 off the price.
Nest Bedding
Nest makes a solid variety of mattresses, including two kids’ mattresses (both of which we’ve tested!). Something unique that Nest offers is internal split king and California king mattresses, which allows couples to customize the firmness of each side of the mattress. But unlike traditional split kings — which are basically two twin XL mattresses pushed together — it’s all within the same mattress. Leading up to Black Friday, Nest is offering up to 50 percent off mattresses, though most are discounted by about 20 percent.
Nolah
Nolah sells a variety of mattresses at different price points, including hybrids, all-foam mattresses, and even a natural latex-hybrid option. Right now, the brand is taking 35 percent off sitewide for its early-access Black Friday sale. It’s also giving Strategist readers an extra $50 off that sale with code STRAT50. In addition to discounts on the mattresses themselves, Nolah will include two free pillows with select mattress purchases. It is also offering the option to bundle bedding and accessories with a mattress purchase for an additional discount; one of those accessories is the BedJet 3, a climate-control system that solved writer Claire Zulkey’s night sweats.
Parachute
Parachute — known mostly for its bedding and bath items, including some of our favorite sheets and bathrobes — makes just one mattress: the Parachute Eco. And it just so happens to be one of our favorite innerspring models. This bed is made with simple materials: steel pocketed coils, wool padding, and a cotton cover, with no foam in sight. For Black Friday, it’s 30 percent off — higher than Labor Day’s 25 percent off discount. This mattress is rarely on sale, so it’s an especially good deal.
PlushBeds
The maker of our favorite latex mattress, PlushBeds, is taking up to 50 percent off all mattresses and throwing in a free bedding bundle with every mattress purchase, so you’ll also get two pillows, a sheet set, and a mattress protector to refresh your whole bed.
Purple
Purple — the brand known for its squishy, flexible grid layer — has several mattresses on sale in advance of Black Friday. Save up to $300 on the Essential collection, up to $500 on the Restore Hybrid collection, and up to $700 on the Rejuvenate Luxe collection. Senior editor Crystal Martin recently tested and reviewed the Purple Restore Premier Hybrid mattress, which we named the best hybrid mattress for combination sleepers. She says it’s firm but flexible, giving her the right support for sleeping in all different positions.
Saatva
Saatva makes our favorite mattress overall, the Saatva Classic, and right now the brand is offering up to $600 off mattress purchases. You can also save $100 on adjustable bases and frames when purchased with a mattress. I’ve tested several Saatva mattresses and found them to be really high quality — I’m actually currently retesting the Saatva Classic and I continue to be impressed with it. The company also provides free white-glove delivery, meaning it will deliver your new mattress, set it up in your room of choice, and take away your old mattress, too.
Sealy
Sealy’s current sale follows its typical holiday sales offerings: Save $450 on the Posturepedic Hybrid with the code PPHYBRID, or get 25 percent off the Posturepedic Spring mattress with the code PPSPRING. Additionally, the budget-friendly Cocoon by Sealy mattress is 35 percent off, and each purchase comes with a free bundle of pillows, sheets, and a mattress protector.
Stearns & Foster
Take $200 off Stearns & Foster’s Studio and Estate models, $400 off the Lux Estate and Lux Hybrid, and $600 off the Reserve. I’ve tested a Lux Estate model and can confirm it is quite luxe — like what you’d expect to sleep on in a high-end hotel.
Tempur-Pedic
I’m a big fan of Tempur-Pedic’s mattresses — they offer the classic “hugging” feel of memory foam in a way many other beds can’t compete with. But they are expensive, so sales are always welcome. Use the code CLOUD30 for 30 percent off the affordable bed-in-a-box Tempur-Cloud mattress. Other models are discounted by up to $300 off — or $500 when bundled with an adjustable base. The Tempur-Cloud mattress topper is also 40 percent off with the code TOPPERS40.
Tuft & Needle
Tuft & Needle is taking up to 25 percent off mattresses, as well as some bedding, pillows, and other accessories. The brand has a variety of bed-in-a-box options, including our favorite cooling mattress, the Tuft & Needle Mint.
Vaya
Vaya is a small brand that makes just two mattresses — one all-foam and one hybrid. You can get either one for $300 off with the code VAYA300. The brand is also taking 15 percent off platform beds with the code BF15.
WinkBeds
Take $300 off all mattresses, of any size, at WinkBeds. The WinkBed is our top pick for the all-around best mattress for back pain, in part because it comes in four firmness levels (including a Plus option for heavier folks). It’s a versatile and sturdy mattress — New York features editor Katy Schneider has been sleeping on one for six years and still loves it.
Zinus
Zinus makes very budget-friendly mattresses, including two of our favorite inexpensive picks. Leading up to Black Friday, the brand is offering up to 50 percent off select mattresses.
Zoma
Zoma sells three different mattresses — one all-foam option and two hybrids. It also sells a few pillows, bedding items, and frames. For Black Friday, Zoma is taking 25 percent off any mattress with the code SLEEP25 and 20 percent off pillows with the code BFPILLOWS, as well as discounting mattress-and-adjustable-base bundles.
