UNC Arabic Debate meets biweekly for structured conversations and debates in Arabic. The group is a space to train debate skills in preparation for national and international competitions, including the U.S. Universities Arabic Debate Championship in Fall 2023. We welcome all students (graduate and undergraduate) of advanced to native proficiency interested in discussing current events, especially those potentially interested in joining UNC’s delegation to the 7th USADC.

Christians United for Israel at UNC-CH is an organization that believes in the State of Israel and look to create and change the conversation about Israel at UNC-Chapel Hill.

UNC Graduate Students for the Liberation of Palestine (GSLP) is a Graduate and Professional Student Organization at UNC-CH standing in solidarity with Palestine. We aim to be a place to organize Graduate and Professional Students, across all 14 UNC-CH schools with graduate and professional programs, and connect these students with each other, and the wider Palestine solidarity movement on campus and in the Triangle. We, as UNC Graduate and Professional Students, will fight until UNC discloses and divests, and until Palestine is free from the river to the sea.

Heels for Israel is a bipartisan organization whose goal is to educate other students about Israel and foster meaningful, respectful, and nuanced conversations while supporting Israel on campus.

The Islamic Medical Association (IMA) at the UNC School of Medicine is a student run organization that strives to represent Muslim students at UNC, foster campus and community-wide engagement with Islam and Muslims, and provide Muslim students with a community for both academic and spiritual support.

Street U at UNC is a student activist organization and home for UNC students interested in peace for Israelis and Palestinians. J Street UNC engages in education, dialogue, policy change, and activism working towards ending the occupation, promoting democracy, and protecting human rights in the region. J Street U at UNC is a chapter of J Street U (a subset of the J Street Organization), a national organization and movement working to change US policy towards Israel/Palestine.

Jasūr is Duke and UNC Chapel Hill’s journal for critical scholarship on the Middle East and North Africa, though our team includes students from around the world–– we have past and ongoing partnerships with the University of Mosul, Boğaziçi University, UNC Greensboro, and the American University in Beirut. Jasūr publishes a print journal of long-form scholarship written by undergraduate and graduate biannually, and regularly posts short form creative and academic content on our website. Additionally, we regularly host in-person and online events, and publish special issues of the journal related to specific thematic areas.
