• The Battle of Azanulbizar is fought at Moria's East-gate, in which the Dwarves defeat Sauron's minions, but are pushed back by the Balrog Durin's Bane.
• The War of the Dwarves and Orcs ends. The news may have been brought to the Little Folk by the Dwarves, who occasionally visited the Shire.
• The deaths of Azog, Frerin, Fundin, and Náin
• The Dwarves Dáin II, Thráin II, and Thorin II return to their respective homes and realms after defeating the Orcs.
