Stratford Caldecott (November 26, 1953 - July 17, 2014) was an English writer, publisher, and editor who converted to Christianity after coming to a deep understanding of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia. For many decades, Caldecott wrote essays and books concerning Tolkien and Catholicism.
In 1994, he and his wife Leonie founded a research center, merged for a few years with the G. K. Chesterton Institute, in Oxford where Tolkien had been educated.
He died on July 17, 2014 of prostate cancer.
