Darrell K. Sweet (August 15, 1934 - December 2011) was an American illustrator known for contributing to fantasy and science fiction books, such as Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time and hundreds of other novels. He also contributed to trading card games and themed calendars. In the 21st century, he was a guest of honor at a handful of fantasy and SciFi fan-conventions.
Sweet illustrated the cover-art for Jared Lobdell's A Tolkien Compass in 1980, and also for 1981 and 1982 releases of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings by Ballantine Books. In total, he made at least twenty notable color-illustrations of scenes from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
His work was also featured in Ballantine Books' 1980, 1981, and 1982 J.R.R. Tolkien Calendar.
