Alan MacKenzie Howard, CBE (August 5, 1937 - February 14, 2015) was an English actor best known for voicing both Sauron and the One Ring in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
Career[]
He was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1966 to 1983, and played leading roles at the Royal National Theatre between 1992 and 2000. His theatre career, which lasted until 2011, won him multiple awards; he additionally starred in a number of television series and films, including the first and last films in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
