§ E' passato 1 anno dall'ultima volta in cui ho scritto su questa pagina.

Un anno colmo di novità, di passione e qualche difficoltà, troppo lungo da raccontare....

Oggi torno qui perché sono felice di annunciare che per la prima volta parteciperò a Miniaturitalia insieme ad una cara amica.

Se passate da Milano venite a trovarmi :)

§ Qualche giorno fa vi ho mostrato i miei acquisti a Miniaturitalia.

Tra questi c'era Attila !

§ Some days ago I have shown you my buyings at Miniaturitalia.

Among them there was Attila !

§ Attila è uno gnomo famoso ! Appartiene alla grande famiglia Kartell !

§ Attila is a famous gnome ! He belongs to the great Kartell's family !

§ Angela ha saputo replicarlo alla perfezione e appena l'ha mostrato su FB le ho chiesto di conservare quello bianco per me che lo avrei ritirato a Miniaturitalia.

La mia scelta di averlo bianco nasceva dal fatto che volevo dipingerlo per replicare l'originale il più fedelmente possibile.

§ Angela has been able to perfectly duplicate it and, as soon as she presented it on FB, I asked her to keep the white one aside for me and I would have picked it up at Miniaturitalia.

My choice of white was due to my wish to replicate the original the more faithfully that I could

§ Eravamo un po' titubanti sulle modalità necessarie per dipingerlo ma ho deciso di provare e ho usato gli acrilici.
§ We were a bit doubtful on how I could have painted it but I made up my mind and used acrylic colours.

§ Ecco il risultato, due mani di colore e MOLTE mani di smalto dopo.
Io ne sono soddisfatta e sicuramente porterà allegria alla casetta

§ And here it is, after two coats of paint and MANY coats of gloss.
I am satisfied by it and it will certainly bring merriment to the little house

Prima sezione completa - First section completed

§ La prima sezione è fatta !
E' stato divertente ed entusiasmante vedere i diversi risultati ottenuti da ognuna di noi partendo da un singolo schema.
Natalia mi ha spiegato che quelli che io credevo essere simboli Navajos sono in realtà disegni orientali moderni, una sorta di kilim.
Io ho dato la mia interpretazione; dal momento che questo tappeto è pensato per la Casa Rossa ho voluto mantenere il tema dei pesci che si ritrova in tutta la casa così la fila di simboli astratti sulla destra è diventata una fila di pesci tropicali !
Ogni pesciolino è composto da otto colori diversi per cercare di imitarne la varietà.
Adesso non vedo l'ora di vedere la seconda sezione, chissà cosa ci proporrà Natalia ?
Io mi aspetto di tutto, da un Aubusson ad un motivo Cinese :o)

§ The first section is done !
It was fun and exciting to see the different results obtained by each of us starting from a single pattern.
Natalia explained to me that what I believed to be Navajos symbols are actually modern oriental designs, a kind of kilim.
I gave my interpretation; since this carpet is destined to the Casa Rossa I wanted to keep the theme of fish that is found throughout the house so the row of symbols on the right has become a row of schooling tropical fishes !
Each little fish is composed of eight different colours to try to imitate the variety.
Now I cannot wait to see the second section, who knows what will Natalia propose to us ?
I expect everything from an Aubusson to a Chinese motif :o)

§ Buongiorno a tutti e buon anno anche se in notevole ritardo

L'anno nuovo è iniziato nel migliore dei modi; mi sono concessa una piccola vacanza a Berlino, città che ho amato a prima vista e che consiglio a tutti di visitare, e ho ritrovato il gusto di ricamare.

Ho completato tre kit di Janet Granger che vi mostrerò appena saranno completi di frange, sono stati divertenti da ricamare ma sinceramente li ho trovati un pochino troppo facili anche se faranno la loro brava porca figura nella Casa Rossa.

In mio soccorso, o meglio in soccorso del mio autolesionismo, è arrivato il contest Colorful Amalgam lanciato su Facebook da Natalia Frank.

Appena letto del contest ed appena aderito al gruppo mi sono lanciata alla ricerca del materiale che incredibilmente avevo pronto in casa !

Uno scampolo di garza di seta 48# delle dimensioni perfette per il progetto !

Il tempo di costruire una cornice ed eccomi pronta a cominciare !

Il ricamo è già andato avanti ma devo attendere che tutti lo mostrino sul gruppo FB, sappiate però che si tratta di un progetto lungo 1 anno !

Un anno di ricamo e colori !

The new year started in the best way; I treated myself with a short holiday in Berlin, a city that I loved at first sight and that I recommend everyone to visit, and I found again the taste of embroidering.
I have completed three kits by Janet Granger that I will show you as soon as they are complete with fringes, they have been fun to embroider but honestly I found them a little too easy even if they will look reasonably good in the Casa Rossa.
In my rescue, or better to the rescue of my self-harm, the Colorful Amalgam contest launched on Facebook by Natalia Frank has arrived.
Just read the contest and just joined the group I started looking for the material that incredibly I had ready at home!
A remnant of 48 # silk gauze of the perfect size for the project!
Time to build a frame and here I am ready to start!
The embroidery has already gone on but I have to wait for everyone to show it on the FB group, be aware that it is a 1 year long project!
A year of embroidery and colours!

Se non valgono più per Natale varranno per questi giorni di interregno che ci separano dal Nuovo Anno.
Spero che Natale sia stato per tutti voi un momento piacevole ricco di affetti e condivisione.
Per me lo è stato nonostante la maratona di pranzi,visite e riunioni famigliari nel mezzo del lavoro che non si ferma e che mi hanno lasciato stremata.

E ora sarà un'autunno dorato e luminoso nella mia città che è la più cara al mio cuore.

§ Il Bambù della fortuna è una pianta diventata di moda negli ultimi anni, si trova ovunque ed è facile da coltivare.

In realtà non è un bambù bensì una pianta della famiglia delle Agavaceae ma non voglio farvi una lezione di Botanica .... anche perché non ne sarei capace ;o)

§ The Lucky Bamboo is a plant which became fashionable in the last years, you can find it anywhere and it's easy to grow.

Truly it is not a bamboo but it's a plant of the Agavaceae family but I am not here for a botanical lesson .... mainly because I couldn't do it ;o)

§ Il mio bambù è fortunato perché se ha trovato un vaso accogliente e bellissimo è grazie ad un'amica speciale.

This adorable bowl is a gift from Norma and it's work of Margaret Crosswell an Australian miniaturist who, alas, doesn't sell online but I am the, again, lucky owner of a few pieces thanks to the generosity of another friend, Linda.

§ Il mese scorso sono stata a Parigi per il SIMP e sono stata così fortunata da incontrare Norma Bennet dall'Australia.
Siamo state in contatto tramite i nostri blog per 10 anni, forse una delle prime persone che ho conosciuto,nella blog sfera, ed è stato meraviglioso incontrarci di persona! Purtroppo nessuna delle due ha pensato a fare una foto !
Ci siamo incontrate all 8,30 al suo hotel, siamo andate a fare la coda insieme al SIMP e dopo la fiera ci siamo di nuovo incontrate per cena in un bistrot.
Cose che succedono solo a Blogland !!!

Forse proprio morto no, diciamo che sta agonizzando.
Un amico sta cercando di riportarlo in vita ma nonostante tutti gli scongiuri temiamo che non riuscirà.

Questo incipit serve a giustificare una lunga assenza dal blog e la carenza di contatti con tutti voi.

In mio aiuto è venuto il mio compagno e da un paio di giorni ho un laptop "di cortesia" che mi fa sentire collegata con questo mondo virtuale/reale che condivido con tutti voi.

L'ho sentita ieri per la prima volta, la recitava la protagonista di Wild e mi ha profondamente colpita: quanti di noi potranno negare che la nostra forza e la nostra sofferenza non hanno le stesse origini ?

In questi giorni mi sembra più che mai vero.

Cinquanta !!!! - FIFTY !!!!

§ Finalmente ci sono, oggi compio 50 anni !

Dico finalmente perché io ho dichiarato di averli per gli ultimi 2/3 anni.
"Perché?" mi chiederete voi e avreste anche ragione.
In effetti il motivo era quello di semplificare la risposta alla frequente, noiosa domanda: " Ma dottoressa, quanti anni ha? e da quanto lavora qui ?"
Dire 50 era più facile che 47/48/49, più tondo, insomma mi piaceva di più.
Col risultato che mi ero sinceramente dimenticata di quanti anni avessi sul serio (^_^)
Solo quest'estate in occasione di una visita medica la dottoressa che mi visitava mi corresse ricordandomi la verità.

Ma ecco che i fatidici 50 sono arrivati !

Per ricordarli ho chiesto a Letizia Iannacone, super talentuosa illustratrice e adorabile ragazza, di creare per me una vignetta che mi rappresentasse.
Così ecco come lei mi vede, nelle mie vesti, uhm uhm, professionali con un pizzico del mio lato birichino ;o) che affiora per dirvi .... FESTEGGIATE CON ME !

Un abbraccio a tutti voi amici ed amiche della blog sfera, anche voi siete un pezzo importante della mia vita e se oggi festeggio un po' è anche per merito vostro.

§ Finally, here we are, today I turn 50 years old !

I say finally because I have been declaring them for the last 2/3 years.
"Why?" you might ask me and you would be right.
Actually the reason was to simplify the answer to the frequent, boring question:" Oh well doctor, how old are you? and how long have you been working here?"
Saying 50 seemed easier than 47/48/49, a rounder number, I simply liked it better,
The result was that I sincerely forgot of how really old I was (^_^)
Only last summer during a check up the doctor who was examining me corrected me pointing out the truth.

But here they are, the fateful 50 are here !

I asked to Letizia Iannacone, super talented illustrator and adorable young woman, to create a vignette for me which might represent me and which might be a souvenir of the occasion.
This is how she sees me, in my, uhm uhm, professional attire with a pinch of my naughty side ;o) coming to surface to ask you ....... CELEBRATE WITH ME !

My blog sphere friends, I send you all an embrace, you are an important part of my life too and if I celebrate today it's also a bit because of you.

San Teodoro

§ Tra 20 giorni sarò in ferie !!!!
Quest'anno ho aspettato fino all'ultimo momento per andare in ferie e non me ne rammarico.
Luglio ed Agosto a Genova sono bellissimi, il mare è magnifico, blu zaffiro e verde smeraldo, i pesci affollano le acque dove vado a nuotare il più possibile.
La città è più tranquilla ma non svuotata ed i ritmi possono rallentare un pochino... non troppo , solo un po', ma quel tanto che ti premette di godere del sole e della brezza.
Ciò nonostante sono felice che anche per me stiano per arrivare due settimane di dolce far niente.
Quest'anno per la prima volta in vita mia ( roba da vergognarsi) calcherò il suolo sardo: andrò a San Teodoro vicino ad Olbia.

§ I shall be on holiday in 20 days !!!!
This year I waited to the very last minute to go on holiday and I don't regret it.
July and August in Genoa are wonderful, the sea is sapphire blue and emerald green, schools of fishes pack the waters where I go swimming any time I can.
The city is calmer but not empty and life rhythms can slow down a bit ....not too much, just a little, but it's enough to enjoy the sun and the breeze.
None the less I am happy that two weeks of easy going life are arriving for me too.
This year, for the first time in my life (shame on me) I'll step on the Sardinian soil: I'll go to San Teodoro close to Olbia.

§ Oggi sono andata a trovare la mia cara amica Sabrina e casualmente si è parlato della room box che avevo fatto per Simona, sua sorella gemella.

§ Today I went on visit at my dearest friend Sabrina's home and casually we talked of the room box which I made for her twin sister Simona.

§ È un progetto originale basato sulle richieste di Simona dove ho fatto davvero tutto e assomiglia moltissimo alla sua stanza preferita

La differenza è data dalle finestre che nella realtà non esistono mentre qui si affacciano sul piccolo e bellissimo golfo di Paraggi

§ It is an original project based on Simona's wishes and I made everything and it resembles a lot her favourite room

The difference is given by the windows which don't exist in reality while here they overlook the small and beautiful gulf of Paraggi

§ Sul soppalco c'è un angolino comodo per rilassarsi e leggere

§ On the mezzanine there is a comfy corner to relax and read

§ Al piano inferiore tutto il necessario per lavorare e ricevere le amiche

Un mini pavese sulla borsa perchè siamo Genovesi e marinai...o no ?

§ Sono di ritorno da una settimana di ferie in Istria, un posto affascinante che si meriterà un post a parte, e rimettendo le mani sul pc mi è punta vaghezza di condividere un nuovo lavoro.

§ I am back from a week of vacation in Istria, a charming place which will deserve a post on its own, and placing back my hands on the pc I wished to share a new work.

§ Il lettino viene da Singapore, tutto il resto ovviamente è farina del mio sacco (^_^)

§ The little bed comes from Singapore, all the rest is obviously my own work (^_^)

§ Ho riscoperto il piacere di cucire e ricamare in miniatura che pensavo di aver perso

§ I found again the pleasure of sewing and stitching in miniature which I thought I had lost

§ Mio figlio adora i gatti grossi grassi e rossi così due gattoni sono diventati cuscini anche se in realtà erano nati come .... copri teiera !

§ My son adores big fat red cats hence two tomcats turned in two cushions even though they were born to be a .... tea cosy !

§ Lo schema è di Janet Granger ma quando ho finito di ricamarli mi sembravano decisamente enormi , fuori scala per come vedo io un copri teiera, per cui sono stati adattati a cuscini

§ The pattern is by Janet Granger but when I finished them they looked definitively enormous, out of scale for how I think of a tea cosy, therefore they have been adapted as cushions

§ Questo invece è ispirato, incredibile ma vero, ad un maglione di Chanel visto su una pubblicità lo scorso inverno.
Incredibile da dove può nascere il mini mojo ;o)

§ While this one, incredible but true, it's been inspired by a Chanel knitted jumper which I saw on an ad last winter.
