Open for business

So, I'm in business for myself! I'm now Kryogenix Consulting.

I suspect that a good proportion of the people reading this will know who I am already, but if not (this is the promotion bit): I'm Stuart Langridge. I'm good at strategic thinking and synthesis: pulling together the web, open source, product design and vision to make cool things and advise people on how they can do the same.

There are two strands here that could interest you.

Firstly, consultancy. I've got deep experience with JavaScript, the web and the mobile web, mobile web apps; I've also got strong experience with business, organisation, and strategy. So if you'd like someone to work with you and your development team to put together new ideas, or to plan out how best to put together a new system — should you be developing in-house or contracting? Which existing software can you pull together to form the basis of your new app, and which parts should you be building yourselves? Hosting internally or in the cloud? Use jQuery or Zepto? Bootstrap or not? Do you need separate mobile apps; a mobile website; a mobile web app? I'll come and talk to your staff, or your management, about it all.

I also do custom development. Front-end JavaScript; back-end node.js JavaScript, Python and PHP; whole systems. We can talk about how best to build the apps you want, and then I can build them for you, or help your dev team to do so. Mobile and the web, and Ubuntu as well. A nice example of this is how Opera Software recently asked me to build a bookmark manager app for their new Chromium-based Opera Next. A few days of work; some discussions about how best to do it, and we collectively put together a spec and delivered.

That's Kryogenix Consulting, now open for business. www.kryogenix.org. Drop me a line and let's have a chat.

I'm currently available for hire, to help you plan, architect, and build new systems, and for technical writing and articles. You can take a look at some projects I've worked on and some of my writing. If you'd like to talk about your upcoming project, do get in touch.
