Yoshimori's Ambition ( 良守の野望 "Yoshimori no Yabō" ) is the third chapter of the Kekkaishi Manga written and illustrated by Yellow Tanabe

Summary[]

Yoshimori has two great ambitions in life: to protect Tokine no matter what, and to make a candy castle. His grandfather, however, sees baking as a waste of Yoshimori's talents, and thinks he should focus on protecting Karasumori and their lord. Yoshimori and Shigemori get into a huge fight, and Yoshimori goes to school in a bad mood. He sees the ghost of a young man hanging around the school and approaches him. The ghost is relieved that someone can finally see him, and Yoshimori realizes the ghost doesn't know that he's a ghost. Yoshimori tries to explain, but the ghost doesn't believe him. Yoshimori sends him to Mother-san (a local psychic counselor that sees ghosts for free), assuming she'll explain things.

After school, Yoshimori goes to a sweet shop to admire their treats, and runs into the same ghost. The ghost has a better grasp on his situation thanks to Mother-san, but questions why Yoshimori was able to touch him. Yoshimori explains that he is a Kekkaishi, and tells the ghost to pass on in order to avoid transforming into a monster (which it would be a Kekkaishi's duty to destroy). The ghost refuses, saying he wants to figure out the meaning behind his dying word ("cabbages"). He realizes he was a pâtissier, and Yoshimori immediately asks him for baking tips. Tokine interrupts them, scolding Yoshimori for not doing his job, and demanding that the ghost leave before he becomes a problem. Tokine drag Yoshimori away, and he shouts out a warning that the ghost should stay away from the school. Later that night, a drunken man stumbles over to the school and sticks his hand through the gate. His hand is sliced open by a dark figure, and Yoshimori senses something transforming on the school grounds.
